I thought her fanbase formerly known as kittenz said she absolutely didn’t care about commercial success or hits so why would she bother radio hosts to play her new songs?17 points

Heres the tea: your fans are the people most of the time keeping stuff away from the public. They report hate tweets, they make sure videos are scrubbed from social media, they stop hashtags from gaining any ground. when an artist goes after the fans these type of things start to happen. they just stop defending and take part in the shitfest. And to make matters worse they are the people that have most of the tea on you that the PR keeps away lol so treat your fans well17 points

The more promo you give to this song, it gets bigger If liberal media hasn't mentioned this song/video last tuesday it would have stayed as the flop it was (it was released on May and no one cared about it)15 points

I use cocaine recreationally. Cocaine is very dangerous compared to safer drugs like weed and shrooms, especially now that it's popular to mix the coke with cheaper, more dangerous drugs like fentanyl. I hate when people downplay the risks of cocaine use. Cocaine is a dangerous habit, the same way racing motorcycles is a dangerous hobby or working on an oil rig is a dangerous job. I'm not saying you should never get on a motorcycle, I'm just saying you should learn the risks so you can mitigate them. The same thing with cocaine- know what you're taking and where it came from, learn your consumption levels, monitor your intake, don't overwork or dehydrate yourself, etc. People making coke out to be harmless are usually just trying to make themselves feel better about using it.15 points

The thing that bothers me about the current press circus around this is that is that YG's press team is constantly talking about how they'll do anything to get the girls to renew but if that was actually the case, they would have reached an amicable agreement months ago. This is clearly an attempt by YG to turn Black Pink's toxic fanbase against the group itself as leverage to accept a sub-par renewal contract. No fan of Black Pink should be pressuring those girls into sticking with a company that's done them dirty since day 1. YG needs to accept that Black Pink is the last successful idol group that company has and that all the bargaining power is in their hands or YG is going to dissolve as a company within the next 5 years.14 points

Of course, I am not surprised at all. Almost every post-Barbie release reel or Tik Tok has used the song, and I knew it was gonna do numbers when the director said it is going to be the core of the film Anyway, would @krustysalt like to share any thoughts with the class? It seems your early presence in Billie threads is absent in this one.11 points

We’re somehow experiencing the worst pushback and discrimination in decades and the biggest wins for the gays/girls in terms of pop culture and openly feminine/gay moments. Everything’s so explosive and volatile right now. It’ll be an interesting time period in history to analyse (but we’ll be dead from global warming before anyone gets the chance to)11 points

That is not what "abusive" means. This is coming from Tony's son, not some random. His son wants people to see his dad and remember him and his love for what he did for nearly 100 years. Also, Danny did not put out, like, a press release. This was just a passing comment during an interview he did.11 points

Oh, the fights over local vs. global are tiresome! Specifically people calling Black artists local and downplaying their success because they didn’t smash in some random Eastern European country.10 points

It is not an outtake from Future Nostalgia. It was made specifically for the movie and the production was made prior to the lyrics. The basic melody was written for the movie as a pitch to Greta, they took the instrumental to rehearsals and developed the music further, the song was offered to Dua and then she took part in writing the actual lyrics of it. About Dance The Night: The first song to come together was Lipa’s “Dance the Night,” which is performed in the movie and serves as a tentpole musical moment. Gerwig had sent Ronson a disco-inspired playlist that included the Bee Gees, leading Ronson, who lined his New York studio shelves with Barbie and Ken dolls, to come up with “Dance the Night,” co-written with Andrew Wyatt, Caroline Ailin and Lipa. Coming up with the instrumental that became “Dance the Night,” I felt pretty free to create. I wasn’t thinking, This has got to be the summer smash. It was like, I’m really inspired by this film. I wanted to give them something that’s got disco, but has an unexpected slightly harder edge to it. Greta had referenced the Bee Gees a bit. The thing about the Bee Gees that’s really sneaky: A lot of great pop music, when you listen to it, it’s not as syrupy and slick as you think. When you listen to “Staying Alive,” there’s this big-ass kick drum just going, [imitates drumbeat]. I tried about three or four things and then I finally had this one that I liked and I sent it to her. I think I named it “Tastes Like Barbie,” because I just thought it sounded cool. I didn’t think the whole project hung in the balance — if she didn’t like that track, I was out — but I just wanted her to like it so badly. And she wrote back, “Oh my God, I’ve listened to this 100 times already on the way to the set. My driver says it’s a hit.” This is just the most basic instrumental ever. So they started to do all these dance rehearsals to it. And, listen, it’s not my first time ever at the rodeo, but to walk in and see a piece of music I made on a film set of that level of people rehearsing, and Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling and **** doing choreo, it was kind of rad. I want to correct this, because we didn’t write it for Dua — we wrote the music and then she wrote the song with Caroline Ailin. I’ve worked with Dua, but I’m also a fan of Dua’s records; I’m a DJ, so I play Dua records. It’s all mixed up in the soup. So I’m sure there’s somewhere where Dua and I have similar influences. I think that it felt Future Nostalgia–adjacent because her music does the **** that I really love, as far as dance music goes: It has an energy, but it’s kind of tough and weird. Same as Tame Impala’s music, like any dance music that’s just a little imposing.9 points

Tony Bennett IG page has been posting several posts in the past days in order to celebrate him, for how much sad it's his death, the man has lived a full life with an amazing career, one of the longest in entertainment music business, he deserved to be celebrated and remembered for his contribute, there's nothing wrong in the documentary coming up now and if they wated this moment for doing that, when a big personality-legend died they always air documentaries and specials on television in order to remember the person, it would be more disrespectful the contrary and not dedicate anything to him.8 points

We need to all just ignore this song & any future songs like this. It's a completely reactionary hit that probably won't reach our ears anyway. This song isn't getting radio etc. It will eventually fall & we can all just forget about it7 points
