Why is Mariah so low?

Because this is a worldwide chart. Mariah was never very big globally like Rihanna and Madonna for example. She was big only in the US.

not true.

she was big basically everywhere.

and she was bigger in asia than in the usa. moreover, she is the most successful foreign artist in japan, more than beatles.

She had a couple of big eras worldwide but nothing compared to how big other girls are or were worldwide.

Japan and the US are not the whole world.

Look at Europe for instance. Look how few no1s she has there. In the UK she has 2 no1s only, one of which is a duet with Westlife which were huge there.

No one says she didn't have some success worldwide, but to say she's as big as girls like Rihanna and Madonna is just wrong and fake news.

Even Kylie Minogue is way more successful than Mariah in the UK.

Mariah was a huge album seller. Riri is merely singles artist ww.

Also, MC is among top 5 most successful female artists in the UK.

As for Kylie, just lol. UK is the only place where she used to be big.

Mariah is not as LOCAL as Janet or even Whitney were, but definitely not as big as Rihanna and Madonna worldwide.

Rihanna is the only current gurl that mirrors Madonna's insane worldwide chart success to some extent. Especially in terms of singles.

LMAO wtf?

I love Rihanna but Whitney STOMPS on her globally, to call her local is laughable. Rihanna never cracked Asia like Whitney did and The Bodyguard is the most global female album of all time, it sold more outside the U.S than Rihanna's entire discography.

They were monster smashes. Can you provide some receipts? It is a worldwide chart.

Sorry and American Life were not big in the US but they were huge worldwide. I don't think you realize how big Madonna was in the 2000s in Europe, Canada, Latin America etc..

Some of the songs you have in bold are HUGE compared to other songs you have not included.

How can you say Open Your Heart, American Pie and Sorry were not huge while Take A Bow was? Take A Bow was huge in the US but kind of flopped abroad. American Pie went to No1 pretty much everywhere for god's shake. There was no physical release in the US and it still managed to peak at no29 in the US solely due to airplay.

This chart includes sales + airplay.

As examples i'll say this:

This Used To Be My Playground was a huge hit back in 1992 and it hit #1 in multiple countries, including the USA.

American Pie was #1 for 7 weeks in the European Hot 100 SALES chart alone, not counting the huge airplay it got everywhere INCLUDING the USA, where it peak at #29 with airplay ONLY (it was never released as a single). So 8 weeks is not even weird.

Don't Tell Me got to #1 in some countries and had huge airplay. You need to remember Madonna was a HUGE force at the radio and this chart reflects that as well.

Die Another Day and American Life peaked high but went down faster than all her other #1 this. Both songs hit #1 in multiple countries and airplay was good as well.

Sorry was #1 in the European SALES charts for like 4 weeks, plus a huge airplay hit everywhere except EUA.

It was one of the biggest hits from the first half of 2006 and it helped to make COADF one of the best sellers ww in 2006.

Educate yourself.

 I screamed at that font's notion that Whitney was "local". They obviously haven't done the education. Whitney was like the only female that was as big as Madonna was internationally in the 80s/early 90s.

I know everything pretty much about Whitney, but other than I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You she does not have any other worldwide mega smashes. Rihanna has at least 10-15 worldwide such mega smashes. So basically it is 2 hits VS like 10 mega smashes. There are plenty of countries where RiRi is already the most successful female on the singles chart only behind Madonna. Look at the UK for example.

It is weird, because WY dominated 1994 in the German-speaking countries. The song was the #1 song on the Year End Chart in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. :clap3:
