Zay Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Moses Mass-education's quality doesn't match up to her previous albums but it is indeed still pretty decent

World Eater Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 Spoiler This is one of like two (?) widely released songs from the Egyptian producer Kareem Lotfy. 'Mono No Aware's' mysterious opener is probably my most played ambient track of the year Spoiler This might be their most accessible and straightforward song yet. Both parts of 'Quarz' were good but this definitely stood out or erm, to put it in other words, shined Spoiler This could have been a recorded in one take, who knows, but I love the raw, stripped down, almost non-existing production. Let me not even start on the lyrics, too #relatable Spoiler Every year there's this one simple love song I get into WAY too much and guess what? This is the one Spoiler Although I've been bopping to this whole year long, this was a last-minute addition to the list. Uzi nails this though. Between the thin production and the hard-hitting chorus, he finds himself having a tough dialogue (or an argument perhaps?) with his ex. Another thing is that it goes tf AWF
World Eater Posted December 18, 2017 Author Posted December 18, 2017 (edited) Spoiler The band you'll be sooner or later a member of came back from a 7 year long hiatus with another strong addition to their already impressive discography. Good thing BSS are not interested in recreating their 2002 masterpiece 'You Forgot It in People' and instead they are moving forward. Yet again though, they've taken a pop-oriented route but this time around they're mixing adult contemporary pop with indie rock. Spoiler This was my favorite album early in year but unfortunately didn't hold up as strongly as I had hoped as the time went on. But even despite that, 'Process' is one of the year's most impressive debuts and perfectly reflects on who Sampha is. Just listen to the huuuuuge opening track, "Plastic 100°C," the Kanye co-written "Timmy's Prayer" or one of my favorite singles of last year, "Blood on Me". Edited December 18, 2017 by AlexisNeiers

Tom Vercetti Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Shine A Light is very straightforward and one of their best songs. I liked Liability earlier in the year (more than Green Light) but now... eh. I can't fault that National choice, and XO And yeah, agreed on Sampha.
Lucas32 Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 The Broken Social Scenes album was forgotten quickly Lorde & The National
Vxspertine Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 Process Definitely agree on what you said about it. Liability Dark Side Of The Gym is pretty good, but I think there's are plenty of better songs on that album
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 18, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2017 I heard Shabazz's first album but immediatley stopped following them, didn't know they sitll exist. I prob would like them too XO tour Life is the best emo/rap hybrid we've heard THUS far.

Liability still hits hard I think Green Light was a great lead for Melodrama but everyone clearly overpraising it made me like it a bit less if that makes sense 42 minutes ago, Lucas32 said: The Broken Social Scenes album was forgotten quickly Lorde & The National Not as quickly as Forgiveness Rock Record nn 38 minutes ago, Vxspertine said: Process Definitely agree on what you said about it. They do, Ishmael looks better than ever Black Up is still my favorite from them but I'd say there's some treats on each of their records LUV came through with XO TOUR Llif3, too bad his album wasn't that good
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 18, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2017 Liability grew on me so much as time went on it's stunning
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 18, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2017 Liability the lyrics hit so hard yas at XO making your list too
karma police Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 ugh guess I'll finally have to force myself and listen to Melodrama Dark Side of the Gym but this better not be their only entry in this "Best of"
bluth Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 ugh liability her lyrics xo is an excellent choice and i agree re: sampha - good to begin the year but it kinda faded over time. it's a good position for it
