Pink Matter Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) Pure Desire and Supercut are amazing! Haven't heard the Alex G song so I'll check him out. Only thing is, I'm not really seeing the hype for Yaeji. Admittedly, I've only listened to Raingurl and not her full EP so my judgement is premature, but that song in itself just sounds like aimless noise and there's very little to no harmony which makes it hard to listen to I'll check out her EP to see if my opinions change though. Pleasure was a solid album from what I remember but it's not something that stuck with me unfortunately Edit: So I partially take it back lol. I just listened to both of her EPs and they were both quite enjoyable. I can see why people have been praising her. Raingurl is still trash though. The only track on both projects that I don't like Edited December 24, 2017 by Pink Matter

Wondervisions Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) Omg I had to go through 10+ pages to give myself and update (slé) I'm so happy to see Foxygen here I thought most people were going to snub it given it was released within the first quarter and it was so short but it's so freaking enigmatic and the epic orchestra sound is just glorious. ForGOD not making your top 10 :o also mess at you calling Pills disjointed . Fantastic taste as per. Feist making it tho too omg <3 Edited December 24, 2017 by Wondervisions
Lazuli Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Supercut Sportstar is cute too! ugh Pleasure Such a great album and it somehow sounded better live

He hasn't really hit it out of the park back 2 back since the House Arrest/super SUPER lo-fi days, me thinks. However it's still good to me. One of the best pop songwriters + don't believe anyone who tries to say otherwise.

Mature Themes has Baby, Only in My Dreams and Nostradamus & Me so it automatically wins I still have yet to check out like 2 or 3 albums of his (widely released) lo-fi alberms but I loved everything I've listened to

jose168 Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Supercut and PLeasure i wish i had more time to marinate with the latter, i love the title track
Sunderland 4ever Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Pleasure's an album I'm going to consider next year.

I was ready to bop for my life but
karma police Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) Supercut is cute, but the production is so reductive at the same time. It's like I've heard "that" song 1000 times already, so On 17.12.2017 at 5:25 PM, AlexisNeiers said: I’m just gonna blame Jack Antonoff for that Edited December 24, 2017 by karma police
bluth Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 i adore supercut's lyrics and think it kinda summarises the album. the outro as u said is definitely a great moment i couldn't get into feist's i'm too vapid and need shiny, loud things to deal with sparseness. ariel's was fine whew! and raingurl! she really did THAT
World Eater Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 Spoiler One of my favorite discoveries of the year, even though it was technically first released in 2015. The rerecorded version, which I bumped into pretty randomly, however has the extra punch the OG version lacks. Spoiler Calling this the best CRJ song since "Call Me Maybe" is obviously a stretch, especially when the majority of 'E•MO•TION' exists. Still, you gotta give Carly credit for the fact that even her b-sides and outtakes are much better than your faves' material you’ve been anticipating for YEARS. Spoiler The empowering BOP I've been waiting for all these years
World Eater Posted December 24, 2017 Author Posted December 24, 2017 Spoiler Let’s all say it out loud - 'Pop 2' didn't deserve half of the praise it's received. Especially when 'Number 1 Angel' dropped a few months earlier. On 'Pop 2' Miss XCX tried to use the same formula that made 'N1A' so great (although this time she failed miserably): have catchy hooks - check ("Drugs," "Blame It on You"); recruit people who will come through with their verses - check ("Lipgloss," "Dreamer"); make sure the producers will make something interesting and accessible but at the same time RISKY and EXPERIMENTAL - check ("Roll with Me," "White Roses"). And although 'Number 1 Angel' may not be perfect ("Emotional" is a STAIN on her discography), it sure is her best piece of work since her debut album. Spoiler It feels so weird to be literally one of the very first people who have listened to such anticipated album While her self-titled debut remains superior, Fever Ray's first LP in 8 years can hardly be compared to its predecessor (although "Mustn't Hurry" could arguably fit 'Fever Ray'), mostly because of its more political nature and The Knife-esque production. Yes, that means it's still good and that also means there are total BOPS on 'Plunge' - from the opening "Wanna Sip" to the musical equivalent of drinking 10 cans of Hey QT drink one by one, "IDK About You".
artangels Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 (edited) **** ME UP AlexisNeiers gave gays everything they wanted lets ignore emotional slanding disgusting THEY ALL DESERVED BETTER but they did that huh? lets's find out if alexisneiers taste is good Edited December 24, 2017 by artangels
SLIME Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 Oh boi you wronggggg on the Charli pick but I'm glad she made it high one way or another. Angel still bop after bop so I'm not finna be a hater I don't like Sportstar quite as much as his more ... concrete songs but good to see it recognized cuz it's still great. In ur car the radio up
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 24, 2017 ATRL Moderator Posted December 24, 2017 CttF and LMK CttF is lowkey overrated a bit and LMK is low but Wasn't a fan of N1A but then again I like Sucker Charli so am I really a fan? Pop2 > N1A tho
Pink Matter Posted December 24, 2017 Posted December 24, 2017 9 hours ago, AlexisNeiers said: Mess There's some real gold on both EPs tho No I agree. There's some really good songs on there. It's just Raingurl that doesn't do it for me. You know in those TV shows or scenes in films where someone is playing some obscure indie artist to show off their taste and the song they play just sounds like random noises thrown together? That's what Raingurl sounds like I'd probably like it more if her delivery wasn't as monotone but alas OT: Great set all around! LMK and We Know So are great songs (I just wish I listened to Dasher a lot more than I actually did). And I'm so mad at myself for not listening to Number 1 Angel until recently It's the definition of pop perfection. Also, that was the first time I ever heard what CupcakKe sounded like and was shook tbh And I agree. It>Pop 2(even though it's nice as well). I'm gonna make sure I check out Fever Ray because I've saw a lot of hype for that on here. Not sure why I didn't check it out upon release. Cut To The Feeling is nice but it's not really anything special. It's not even B-sides worthy really
Ewan Chaos Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Our poor faves @ CRJ releasing shiz that kills our faves LMK is good. I like the write-up for N1A a lot (though I love 3am and don't see that mentioned, even if it's a bit basic). I still dunno yet about it's placement compared to POP2. I feel it's too early to say, you know? But they are pretty different mixtapes so.
MP2K Posted December 25, 2017 Posted December 25, 2017 Number 1 Angel so underrated. Now see... who the **** said CTTF wasd the best thing since Call me Maybe? SEND ME THEIR ADDRESS. LMK
