Yeah, but that's based on Post's comments/wants. It's not supported public by republic records, the label.

It is definitely coming out in December regardless but his label has been pushing for the release of Beerbongs & Bentleys since the summer but Post has been delaying it

JT, Eminem, and Post Malone himself are releasing music all within the next 2 months.

I doubt all of them + new hits wouldn't be able to take down Rockstar. I think it'll max out at 12.

Billboard is counting New Years Day as a Country song... :rip:

Quote

Taylor Swift charts her first entry as an artist on Billboard's Hot Country Songs survey since 2013, as "New Year's Day" arrives at No. 40 (on the list dated Dec. 9). "Day" debuts on Hot Country Songs sparked mostly by its No. 5 start on Country Digital Song Sales, as it sold 11,000 downloads in the week ending Nov. 23, according to Nielsen Music.

Well, her team sent the song to Country Radio so, for chart purposes, it's considered a country song.

By this logic Meant To Be will count as a Country song soon (and actually may "debut" on top)

Stay With Me was not allowed to chart on R&B/Hip-Hop charts despite being a clear Soul song, was sent to Urban radio, and had a remix made with Mary J. Blige sent to Urban AC radio which reached #1.

Too Good at Goodbyes is also currently #5 on Urban AC, and not allowed to chart on R&B/Hip-Hop.

Billboard is inconsistent af with their genre rules.

Kind of like their recurrent rules. :fan:

But when it comes to Taylor, she has history with the genre. Hell, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together charted in Hot Country Songs and one could argue that New Year's Day is more country than that song. I guess it comes down with her already having established herself in that format, but I do agree with you that Billboard is very inconsistent with their genre rules.

No matter when he releases, he's likely to put up really big weeks for a while and outlast Eminem/G-Eazy/everyone else that's dropping next month. But yea if they really care about getting the #1 they would release next week (U2 is dropping on Friday).

No they don't, country radio stations are just playing it. Any song can theoretically chart on any genre specific radio chart if it crosses over enough.

No, it's also charting on Hot Country Songs and Hot Country Digital Song Sales. Those are charts where Billboard specifically has discretion over whether something can chart.

Airplay charts are simply based on stations playlists, but the overall genre chart + genre sales, an album/song has to fit their criteria of being in the genre.

That's what I mean. People thought it was a huge risk to release same week as J Cole and Post Malone won between them.

He's going to have great longevity regardless unless there is no hits on it besides rockstar and Candy Paint but we already know that's not true since Psycho will be on it.

What do you think he opens with first week anyways as I have literally no idea?
