He's allowed to respond the way he wants to respond. At the end of the day he is the one who was called a slur. Nobody can deny him defending himself.

This was a perfectly missed opportunity to label the thread ATRL member gets into a yelling match with a woman on the subway and get that hit thread. :jonny:

I love subway/public transpo videos like this only for the fact that it's funny to see the people around that visibly look like they're minding their own business despite the nonsense next to them. Blank facial expressions, occasional quick glances. Meanwhile anyone with headphones/earbuds on Def turned down the volume to listen to the argument

She was absolutely in the wrong dropping the f slur, no ifs and hows about that. But him screaming at her at the top of his lungs in a crowded subway car gave unhinged. Just say **** you ***** and move on.

why should we have to be the bigger person?

That woman is a piece of ****, but the guy just should've stopped yelling at her after 10 seconds. People like that aren't worth it.

This is just another day at the MTA. Personally I don't have the energy to shout or even argue with ignorant people. I'm just trying to get where I need to go :toofunny3:

It's not about being the bigger person but not giving her the attention she wants. It's not worth it to get yourself to that place of being so upset.

not excusing anything, but this was more shocking to me cause I've been called so many things on the subway and literally just didn't look up from my phone/got off at the next stop lol

Makes me wanna know the backstory

That man has probably faced racism AND homophobia his whole life and people on the comments act like he shouldn't defend himself

I think she knew she was in the wrong.

I like that the straights around them can hear that's every once in a while they'll encounter someone like him.

So the context of this is definitely that she called him the f-slur first, right? Because it's wild how many of those twitter replies are whacking him for filth.

I personally tend to disengage when situations like this arise, but honestly, he has the right to react how he wants. If you're comfortable enough to engage with someone in a public setting in order to call them a slur, you have to be comfortable enough to take whatever their reaction to that is going to be.

I wouldn't pay much attention to an ignorant scum

But honestly he can do whatever he wants with her after she opened her mouth

That's my takeaway too. Everyone saying they'd walk away/ignore her are free to do so, but sometimes standing up for yourself so boldly is a risk worth taking to send a message to everyone else watching.
