People forget that he had a really strong first 2 albums and a lot of promise with them.  But he sadly went down the GP pandering route which can only get you so far.  And I mean, fair play to him if that was his goal because he has obviously been massively successful, it's just a bummer to see the potential he had quality wise.  Autumn Variations was nice and had some good songs on it but it just felt a bit....calculated after the albums that preceded it and the way he had talked about wanting to be successful in interviews.

All ur assessment shows is that Gaga put herself in a great position of interest following the smash that DWAS and still is, thus people tuned in to her album. However, most people obviously didnt connect with the album, hence the lackluster hold.

I fear what this shows us is that you need to have a solid fanbase to have longevity... the gp's support come and goes, you need to have a loyal audience that will keep you afloat. But even without considering the fanbase, ed sheeran and katy obviously had a decline in the quality of their music which explains the flop. Miley's music is good but for some reason she doesn't have a strong fanbase and relies too much on the GP/label push. I guess it's probably cause she doesn't use social media or interact with her fans at all, she doesn't even tour..
