Y'all said the saaaaame **** when Gaga dropped Disease and look at her/MAYHEM now.

I don't think there's any sign of miley having an "abracadabra".. this album is said to be uncommercial and this lead is as poppiest as it gets

The nerve to compare this Disney girl to Gaga, OPEN THE SCHOOLS! :razzle:

i'll just say there was one deranged smiler cheering about DWAS getting blocked at #2, stinking up that chart thread, so it's funny to see some karma working at the moment

DWAS and Abra were clever nacho reheats of shallow and a BTW track of sorts (ballads are always more stripped back, so no one noticed the shallow tea as much for DWAS)

EOTW is too close to flowers 2 years ago, and the clear Bruno reference again :toofunny2:

She just should've totally reinvented this era again, or at least kept the direction and did better songs

Bruno reference? Lol

this song was written and performed more than a Year ago. DWAS was not even an idea yet.

She kinda deserves most of the backlash she gets from her fans for leaving them dead in a ditch for 3 years+ now ngl :suburban: everyone else can choke. Even if she's only able to score a solo hit every ten years at least those solo hits are actually making real noise outside of online gays discourse

Finally got a chance to listen to this -- I'm surprised at the negative reception because this is a good sound for her.

This is the ultimate spring anthem. I was having a picnic with my friend, this song on repeat, on a bright, warm spring afternoon — and it was HITTING. Wind in my hair, smell of flowers in the air, birds singing in the background... This song is perfection.

The negative reception just started when the numbers came out literally everyone was loving it when it a few days ago but yk they switch like-

Let's not get it twisted in the heat of the moment, the song is absolutely excellent! I really do believe the biggest factor to these numbers is that most people have absolutely no ******* clue she released because of her poor social media performance and her absolute refusal to leave the house, do interviews, late night shows, performances, tour etc. :deadbanana:

A huge part for people checking out Flowers immediately on release date, even before all those fake rumors took off, was because she just had a mega viral moment performing Wrecking Ball with Dolly at her NYE show and announcing Flowers straight after the show when all eyes were on her. The way this era could've started out/went so differently if they kicked off the era straight after the Disney Legends award last year or around this year's award season where she was pretty present anyway with a stellar performance at the Grammys. This could've easily done thrice as well as it's doing now. But she has no business sense for the state of the industry rn I fear and her team is absolutely incompetent.

Don't get me wrong, I know the album will be incredible and I'll love it, but I really am scared that the piss poor commercial performance will make Columbia pull all plugs resulting in her either being dropped or even worse, leaving her in label limbo, if they don't drop her but also won't invest in her or let her release anymore, fearing they won't make any of their money back :deadbanana:

I think I know who's taking all of EOTW's streams…

If they don't start investing in the good music she's putting out we might be in for absolute tankery. She needs to do something big and quick to save her career.

Honestly I was surprised after Flowers she's not doing better but Miley has been out for a long time. Its not like she's a new artist. Declining sales/success is just par the course. If GaGa didn't have the Bruno song where would she be? All it takes is one song.

what the actual **** is this

Y'all need stop comparing her to Gaga. Gaga was coming off the absolute bomb that was Joker 2 and Disease would still easily debuted in top 20 if they released the video on release day:rip: Even DWAS was starting to collapse since that movie dropped.

Even though the song isn't as instant as Flowers, it's still top 20 material at worst.

This situation falls more on marketing and the lack of it. Again, she's suffering from years of fanbase neglect (no touring now for 13 years, social media now fully ran by team) while also not doing anything fun to engage casuals to show her personality (no TikToks, no late night interviews).

She's still a huge star, but with such a small fanbase, she fully relies on how well her latest topics syncs with the public. There's not much fans can do or say to change things.

Beyond all of this, it kinda sucks how all 00s/10s girls besides Taylor enjoy being famous and commit to what it takes to keep it. :deadbanana:

Besides Taylor? Maybe besides Ariana

Honestly this and Something Beautiful for me personally are both career highlights.

The biggest and boldest move is exactly one word: Tour.

The song went double platinum in my bedroom:kiss:

My only compliant is that the song is too nostalgic like a little modern touch would elevate the song more:nicole2:

Posted

all she really needs is for this song to be tacked on to a vir video of the crashing markets/recession/Trump terror on tik tok and we will take off ladies :twirl3:
