Some of us are just long-time Toxic haters, and some people probably just want a song by someone other than a pop girl to win, especially considering how many non-pop girl songs were knocked out so early.

ATRL Moderator supaspaz Posted 5 hours ago Author ATRL Moderator Posted 5 hours ago Back, back, forth and forth, Aaliyah sang on her debut single (which incidentally got zero nominations for this tournament despite featuring several catchy samples). It was also the name of the game in the Final Four, where the contenders on both sides of the draw traded the lead in extremely competitive match-ups. Ultimately, #6 "Bitter Sweet Symphony" eked past #1 "Fantasy," eliminating the last remaining top seed as we head into the final round. And #13 "Paper Planes" upset #2 "Toxic" in a tiebreaker, which unexpectedly leaves us without any more songs by pop girls either. (13) "Paper Planes" M.I.A. def. (2) "Toxic" Britney Spears [16*-16] (6) "Bitter Sweet Symphony" The Verve def. (1) "Fantasy" Mariah Carey [17-15] All that remains is the Championship of ATRL March Madness, where just two dazzling reinventions are left chasing the title of the most creative sample. Based on the nominations, neither was expected to make it anywhere close to this far. Which Cinderella story will get the glass slipper? Check out the updated draw below:
ATRL Moderator supaspaz Posted 5 hours ago Author ATRL Moderator Posted 5 hours ago I'll launch the finale when I get home from work. An interesting tidbit: this is the second time "Bitter Sweet Symphony" has been in an ATRL March Madness championship. It previously won the one-hit wonder tournament in 2014 (and was knocked out in the Final Four of the British singles tournament in 2018). "Toxic" lost in the championship of the female video tournament in 2015, but won't get a chance for redemption this year.
