Popular Post edutada Posted yesterday at 12:51 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 12:51 AM BAD MODE is probably one of the best records of the decade, they still relevant even after 25 years of career. They song writing skill (specialy in Japanese), producing and arrangement are just another level. They changed how music are writing in Japan market. We just need to be thankful for living in the same time than they. 11 4

Slayn Posted yesterday at 02:15 AM Posted yesterday at 02:15 AM You're absolutely right. Bad Mode one of the best albums of the decade and SNM is THE best song of the decade. 2
The7thStranger Posted yesterday at 02:16 AM Posted yesterday at 02:16 AM Utada has been the GOAT since Deep River at least. I can excuse Science Fiction (and most of This is the One let's be fr) being a mess given how incredible their output has been overall since the early 2000s.
AvadaKedavra Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM (edited) The Oriental Jpop-Kpop divas of the 2000s (Ayumi/Utada/Namie/Koda/BoA) should be praised as much as the western divas of the 2000s (Britney/Beyonce/Xtina/Shakira/Beyonce/Jlo/Avril/Pink....) Insane videographies, Songwriting, Ecletic discography, Interesting personalities. Beautiful I always wonder. Were the Jpop divas in the 2000s big in China,Indonesia,Philiphines,Thailand,Taiwan,Korea too? The Jpop divas honestly feel like biggest asian stars of the 2000s cause japan had the largest market-the one with the highest budget When i think about female asian stars i think about em. I like so many hikki singles. She's so unique. I really need to take a time and explore her whole albums Im so glad she's still releasing music and ayumi and koda. I will never get over the fact of how namie amuro just dissapeared completely from everything..... Edited yesterday at 02:30 AM by AvadaKedavra 4
dumbsparce Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM I need someone to completely break it down for me as to who is the actual Jpop Madonna. Is it Utada, Namie Amuro or Ayumi Hamasaki? I've been trying to figure out for years just by investigating their wikis and stats and it's pretty close. I have to say though that Utada has the fewest releases but each one of them seems to be a huge event and is able to pull astronomical numbers + her music is by far my favorite out of the 3.

I'd argue Namie Amuro is more like the Janet Jackson of Jpop, Janet is her biggest inspiration after all and you see so much of her influence throughout Namie's career. 3

Namie is the OG queen and the blueprint for what it meant to be a modern J-pop icon. Every female idol after Namie clearly drew inspiration from her. But at the height of her fame, she married some random old and ugly dude, had a kid at 20, she started flopping soon after. Then Ayumi and Utada showed up. Utada had the singer-songwriter thing going (and being a nepo baby), while Ayumi was your typical flashy idol. Ayumi is Japan's best-selling solo artist of all time, because at her peak she was serving Taylor Swift on steroids and releasing 3 albums per year and she and her label were obsessed with charts and breaking records. Eventually, the general public got tired of her, and started flopping. Utada made some video game songs and attempted to break into the American market, but failed miserably. She has some bops i guess. Ayumi was flopping. Utada went on a long hiatus. And then it happened, Namie, the rightful queen of Jpop, reclaimed her throne. Unlike others, she never gave up after her decline. Instead, she started creating the music she truly wanted and gradually regained popularity with each new release. By the end of the decade, she was once again Japan's most popular solo artist ending Ayu and Utada, and she hold that title until her retirement. 3 2 1 2

Its honestly very challengin. Cause theyre all equally amazing in their own ways. I think all deserve the crown. This is a special situation* Personally wise: Utada to me feels more like some sort of Bjork but with huge success instead of relegation to indie spheres. LIke if Bjork turned huge titanic star in America All her music is produced by herself, Her music is very ethereal and experimental. Her Videos are something very special and so many feel futuristic. I dont think utada is like madonna cause she's too soft-sweet-kind-secretive to be madonna. She's more like a taylor swift-adele but far more natural talented than them cause UTADA is musically trained tay-adele fans So Mystical So Avant-Garde. Some western singers wish they were this good Namie to me is more like a Janet Jackson-Beyonce Highly influenced by urban music and amazing dancer-choreos. Great artistry too She was also the first with her level of superstardom in japan She's like madonna in that sense....She paved the road for hikki-ayu. When youre the first youre the first. Baila namie. Funky Queen or R&B Ayumi to me tbh is more like Madonna or some sort of Japanese Shakira. Cause she's Playing with sexyness-has so many gay centered videos and controversial themes in her music videos but serving artistry.-creativeness Huge tours with insane production. Largest and most popular from the japanese divas. Fashion icon all over japan. Has strong rockstar vibes too Lesbian The Japanese Like A Prayer BoA Gives me more britney vibes and Koda kumi Xtina cause she's a bit over the top with the sex thing. Very confident and empowered Ok this is how i see them. I like them equally sorry for the overly long post 4 1

She missed so many years of hits...But Fantome was a masterpiece Ayumi didnt flop. She was still strong in 2011-2010 but she divorced two times and that ruined totally her reputation in japan and she went deaf too harming the execution of her albums. She's still a strong touring force in japan and overseas in places like China she's doin Arenas. Agree about Namie. Her Resurgence is something crazy. Serving Madonna-Mariah levels of comeback with Confessions-Emancipation of Mimi She definitely was a bigger force than Ayumi and Utada with her comeback. I remember those years of 2010s and namie was the hottest thing. I arrived a bit late to the jpop game but i was able to enjoy the golden times I honestly sometimes feel like Namie Amuro should have the crown. Ayufans and Hikkifans are always fighting. Their divas dont deserve it Give the crown to NAMIE AMURO Edited yesterday at 03:45 AM by AvadaKedavra 1
confide in me Posted yesterday at 03:53 AM Posted yesterday at 03:53 AM I agree OP All the J-pop divas served quality in their own ways tbh and nothing for Ai Otsuka bye

You pretending that Namie wasn't overshadow for Kana Nishino during ayumi flor era and utada hiatus loool The best thing for Namie was the hiatus if not she would sell less than Sheena Ringo these days
Evans Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Posted yesterday at 04:35 AM Ugh I love Utada so much, BAD MODE is probably my favorite album of the last 4 years, the run from BAD MODE to Find Love it's one of the greatest moments in music history, and I'm not even exaggerating Somewhere Near Marseilles being the greatest song ever produced too, just next level pop music 2 1
