When I was young I thought Beyonce just had a tan :rip:

This just vividly reminded me of several of my classmates being convinced Rihanna was a white woman around the time Umbrella was smashing. :deadbanana4:

- Freddy Mercury being Indian

- Bruno Mars not being black

Freddie was of "Indian descent" in the sense that his family were from there back in the day, but they were in turn of Parsi descent I believe. Parsis were originally of the Zoroastrian faith who first left Persia for India hundreds of years ago ( Parsi simply means "Persian"), and so were a religious and ethnic minority within India.

Freddie himself was born in Zanzibar in what is now Tanzania when it was a British colony (his family presumably having migrated from what was British ruled India at some point).  He was sent to British public ( ie exclusive private fee paying ) schools just to add to his personal hinterland and hence probably why he spoke with a pretty "cut glass" posh accent.

The man had a fascinating background, which one thinks must've played into who he was and who he became.

Bruno is my only shock. Otherwise, I don't really try to guess people's ethnicity cause I'm from Brazil and everyone here is mixed-race.

I was surprised to learn that Pete Wentz and Wentworth Miller were half black. And I was pretty surprised to learn Jaeden Martell is half Asian. On the other hand, I thought Jordan Peele was fully black but he has a white mother.

I also thought Mikey Madison was Asian, Alessia Cara was half black, Alex Wolff was Pakistani, and Taylor Lautner was Native American.

Filipinos have a 6th sense with these things so i knew they were both part-Filipino the second i laid eyes on them. it's not always perfect tho.

i remember when Camp Rock came out people were swearing Demi Lovato was also part-Filipino

She might as well have been. She will always be invited to the cookout based on "Portuguese Love" alone.
