Most of these old albums need a remaster… I happened to listen to old Madonna songs from the celebration compilation (where the songs are remastered) and the difference is very noticeable compared to the version on the original albums

The best Pop artists are influenced by an extensive range of genres and artists/perspectives, yet the overwhelming majority of their fans have narrow taste and are willfully ignorant about music & close minded. It never makes any sense lol. This applies to all of them, yes, even your fave lol.

Been a Charli fan since True Romance and I honestly can't get into BRAT besides like three songs. I also think her "persona" this album cycle has teetered into cringe/insufferable territory and I need her to ground herself again. Since when does Charli give af about sales and figures so much, like?? 

 

HIFN is THEE album from her, and I wish we could get another body of work like that. Now that her fanbase has quadrupled I doubt we will ever get to see another project that raw and so personal, we literally watched her make her magnum opus in real time over zoom.

These lists are made by people either apart of the culture itself or big fans of it, whatever his numbers are do not matter neither do the number of crossover hits he has. I will never understand y'all giving these opinions when you don't know anything

I don't particularly care about some renowned Anglosphere singer-songwriters. I might be fluent in English, but I find it less expressive and flexible than my native language, so it just won't invoke the same feeling while listening to the songs. I can still appreciate the lyrics like one would appreciate a poem, though.

Instant upvote for this. RAWMe is a cute girl, but one of the most overrated songs ever by gays. I can name 10 songs on Emotion (which is rightfully considered to be the pop bible tho) that I prefer alone... and when it comes to her entire discography, I don't think it's even top 50.

OT: I don't really know what's popular or unpopular these days so it's hard to tell. I think Beyoncé's music is extremely overrated (quality and quantity wise). - No pop girl has been able to be as hot as britney spears was in the 90s/early 2000s. She was the standard of beauty/sex appeal. 

- Jojo should've been as big as Ariana Grande had her music label not screwed her over

- Leona Lewis should have had a farrrrrr bigger career/trajectory... no one sings like her

- Beyoncé has no signature hits beside "single ladies"

- Adele's voice/tone is... unpleasant 

- Demi Lovato's discography is underrated

lana's music ever since nfr has been boring. like, even though nfr (and her previous albums) has almost all slow tempo songs, the songs sound interesting and memorable. then came chemtrails with less enjoyable songs and bloated a little bit. blue banister and blvd are just a mess with a few good moments.

 

i feel like taylors focusing too much on the lyrics, her melodies literally stood on a cliffside screaming jump then fall into me hee hee. like "Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies" girl wtf?

Individuals care WAY too much about what's acceptable to watch or listen to. Life is too short to not indulge in the music, movies, and TV shows you like in fear of being bullied about it. Go to the concerts you want to see, listen to that album, stream those movies, who cares? 

 

Life is much too short to worry so much about conforming to the standard. As long as you aren't hurting anyone, do what makes you happy. The internet has generally gotten so aggressive about this over time, it's hardly enjoyable to be online with the judgement.

• ATRL's lack of knowledge and refusal to get into male pop stars is concerning. Aside from Shawn Mendes (who you all only care about because you find him attractive and want to convert him to a gay with your ridiculous thirst and conspiracy theories) and The Weekend (every song of his apparently sounds the same now), most of you all don't know anything else. Like the fact that Justin Timberlake's Everything I Thought It Was is an amazing project and arguably in the top 10 of 2024.

 

• Radical Optimism is Dua Lipa's best album. Sure, Future Nostalgia has a more traditional pop sound and was the best pop-disco album released in forever, but overall Radical Optimism is more consistent, even if Future Nostalgia's highs are higher.

 

• Katy Perry's 143 is a damn decent album and has plenty of bops. Sure, the lyricism is nothing great and the songs are more generic than most of what else has been released this year, but that's the point. Katy's lyrics have never been that good and it's feel-good dance-pop music you're not supposed to take seriously.

 

• American football is the best sport. It's so damn entertaining and exciting with the variety of plays and unexpected moments. Also, when your home team is doing good, even better. Go Vikings!

 

• LEMONADE is still Beyoncé's best album and one of the all-time great ones. It explores the complexities of relationship and love, black culture, and the grieving/healing process in such a beautiful and intricate way. The visuals only enhance her experience and storytelling. COWBOY CARTER is a close second in terms of quality, though.

 

• Love. Angel. Music. Baby. is ssuchhh an overrated album. Like, yes it is plenty good, but it is no way a pop classic aside from a few songs. This Is What the Truth Feels Like is better and I said what I said.
