a lot of popular albums from the 80s (less so the 90s) are just… awful… they're literal noise. im so glad that instrumentation developed and artists & production started getting held to a higher standard.

 

i sat down and actually tried to get into Madonna and Michael Jackson's older albums and apart from the singles, every track felt like it was produced in 5 minutes or less. it was just awful instrumentals that are just SO muddy and sound exactly like the track before it and the track after it.

 

this is also true for older Mariah album tracks ive heard

A lot of Lana's material pre-NFR was pretty good but you could tell she had a long way to go in terms of artistic development. I think her visuals carried her somewhat because the incredibly immature lyrics and sometimes uninspired songwriting on songs like the album tracks of BTD, half of Honeymoon, and especially Lust for Life left a lot to be desired. People act like her early discography was so misunderstood, but it was just really impactful which causes it to get looked at in a much more favorable light by modern critics. Basically feels like two different artists sometimes. Yes, fight me and downvote me on this. Idc!

Selena Gomez whisper pop songs are better than most of the vocalists out there, i wish she goes back to that style when she decides to focus on music again.

To be fair there's not a single opinion on Taylor that could be considered unpopular because everyone has something to say about her. Whether you think she's the greatest or worst thing to happen to the universe, millions will agree with you. The closest to an unpopular opinion about her would actually be a middle ground one.

tiktok didn't ruin anything since forced trends rarely work out. if anything it made it a little less uninteresting

before tiktok playlisting was more impactful on charts for sure than it is now and playlisting is almost 100% payola.

Britney Spears' music sucks. The only songs worth coming back to are Anticipating and Break the Ice. Britney is also a completely overhyped performer, and I've never been gagged by her choreography or stage presence even at her peak.

beyonce should've got AOTY with self-titled, that was absurd. but it's kinda annoying now how since then every award should be hers. 

 

even with the fact that i would give it to her myself and not harry styles, she didn't even made visuals for renassaince while harry made an ERA that lasted 2 years. 

and everyone saw 25 grammy win coming. 

 

the only true time she was snubbed was with self-titled.
