Cesar Posted December 8 Posted December 8 i don't think people are necessarily celebrating this mans death. more so they are celebrating the fact that for once someone has done something in attempt to stop the 1%. which both political parties have failed to protect the people from. one would argue if democrats weren't loyal to their corporate donors, things like this could've been prevented. (ex. obama being all for single tax payer healthcare, until he suddenly "cared" about the jobs that would be lost if that were to happen) i just hope people also realize that there has to be actual legislation done to stop CEOs from being able to do the white collar crime. killing ceos is pointless, if another one is gonna follow behind and do the same thing. 2
TouchinFree Posted December 8 Posted December 8 (edited) Oh wow. Never thought American had it in them. They'd always presented as ...sorry but brainless people used for their own tax money to start wars. I guess they're finally waking up. Great to see. Reminds me of that story that happened in Denmark i believe, where egg prices went so high that people literally could not afford to buy any. So they'd decided all as a nation not to buy eggs for a whole week. Then the government/farmers started giving all the stock for free as it was going bad. People are so powerful when United. As cliche as this sounds but it's true. Edited December 8 by TouchinFree 8

It would make it easier to rationalize tbh. I am having a hard time seeing all the posts celebrating a killing. I know millions have suffered as a result of an institution HE enabled and pushed, but it still feels dark and weird. I can't help but feel we are entering a new era, where assassinations and "revolt" will become normalized, which has not been the case for decades in America. Publicly supported killings is…. a different level and I am trying to come to terms with it despite agreeing with the intention. Confusing times I appreciate the warmth of your heart. I agree publicly supported killings are insanely dark and cruel. For what it's worth, I guess humankind has been this way for a long time. They were chopping off those heads during the French Revolution after all

I think it is reasonable to feel unsettled when people in your community are saying things like "good thing this man was killed" I don't enjoy seeing that side of people, especially friends. I am not a twitter troll, I don't stoop to that level– wishing death, etc. NOR do I surround myself with people who do. So forgive me but the escalation in celebrating a man's DEATH feels like a lot. The feelings behind it are valid but people are getting comfortable with some reallyyy scary rhetoric 13 hours ago, 45seconds said: I get that but what you also have to kind of look at is that he kinda did the same. Every investor meeting where he touted the profits of company and the room clapped - the same thing. Just more socially acceptable because of the capitalistic nature of America. So to be honest. He had it coming. I feel like that user is living in a bubble capitalistic CEOs have been caring for profits over people for ages and not an eye was batted 3
Scarlett Witch Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Brian Thompson (like most CEOs, particularly in the health care industry) was essentially a serial killer, given how many people died due to his greed. In a vacuum, I guess I can understand where that one user's uncomfortable feelings are coming from, but this one is pretty straightforward in my book. You won't catch me crying for the guy, is all I can say. 3
