Director Joseph Kahn defends Taylor, questions Beyonce's spot

… people are really coming for Legend Joseph Khan? :biblio:

It's just an opinion, that he's free to voice & anyone is free to disagree with. There is no need to make it personal or rubbish his artistry or iconic contributions to pop culture.

Anyway, these publications holds no real merit & are only afloat via online engagement & clickbait. He shouldn't feed the beast - he had to have known this would only agitate stans.

I love Taylor, but there's clearly more to this list than just number. Taylor has the numbers sure, but Beyonce has been consistent from the start of the century to today and to act like she's not a deserving #1 is absurd

It's not Taylor's fault B had a 10 year headstart due to being born earlier than her :rip: I agree that sales are not everything but in this case they kinda are. Taylor's 1st week sales alone of her latest album outsold B's (basically everyone's) last 2 albums combined.

The Super Freaky Girl videographer isn't entitled to any respect from anyone.

The list isn't meant to be weighted by years in the mainstream. You don't see Billboard ranking Chappell and Sabrina in the top ten by extrapolating one year of success to 24 years.

There will be many a list where Taylor tops. This isn't meant to be verifiable through a mathematical formula or rubric.

Well yes but Taylor's been here since 2006. It's not like she hasn't had longevity which is the main "advantage" B has over her.

All this mess could have been avoided if they were fr fr and crowned Rihanna who literally doesn't have any haters and has the most and biggest classics and influence out of all of them.

You just said Bey has an unfair ten year head start on Taylor and are now arguing there isn't really a longevity advantage here. :coffee2:

A name I hadn't seen in years. Whose termite-ridden floorboards did he crawl from under?

Is it really so difficult to just say you disagree with Billboard's choice of the number 1 artist without also calling Billboard biased, out of touch with reality, leveraging deliberate flamebait for clicks or somehow just objectively/factually wrong because Taylor is the only artist who could ever be considered for the position?

It just strikes me as so obnoxious and rude to pretend there's no way Billboard could have chosen Beyonce based on her actual merit and because they genuinely thought she deserved it. Like she wouldn't have been my pick for number 1 either, but she's been at the top of the industry for decades and is clearly worthy of the accolade. Is it really so difficult to be a graceful loser just this one time after Taylor's long string of uncontested wins, even if you thought she should be number 1?

No I just said that whatever advantage in years B has due to starting out her career earlier is easily outclassed by the massive sales of T who has also had a long career as well. A 5 or 6 year difference in career length is a minor thing to consider when the sales difference is that huge.

It's not a who's sold the most list. What's not clicking?

It's even funnier when you realise that the Swifties are literally Kanye-ing Beyonce. Truly a full circle moment :rip:

When I think of a popstar I think of singing and dancing. Taylor's impact is huge + I'd give her #1 singer-songwriter, but not #1 popstar.

I also don't think she'd disagree with Bey being #1.

The fact that this thread is flooded with hive members begs to differ with your theory.  :michael:

Joseph Khan was her best music video director. Every video was a masterpiece. They need to work together again.

Well it's true, Taylor has sold like 3x more than Beyonce.
