Being the most successful popstar numbers wise =/= the number one pop star of the 21st century. What is not clicking. 
 

When people call MJ the number one male popstar of all time, they're not saying it because he sold X00 million singles and albums, they're saying it because of his talent, the way his music reached all kinds of different people, and the way he changed popular music forever after.   To totally discredit Beyoncé as not a viable choice for #1 like Joseph is wild to me.
 

Beyoncé is the golden standard of the modern popstar and the archetype of everything they should strive to be. Taylor's success is hugely related to her relatability and her seeming human, approachable, and imperfect, so people, especially girls, see themselves in her. While her sound and image has had a remarkable impact on pop culture, I don't think it make her THEE best popstar of modern times. The most successful, certainly, but not the best.
 

The title should be given to someone who everyone strives to be as the golden standard of their craft imo. Taylor is not the best at what she does and that's perfectly okay but people should be honest. I feel like people are not honest about her limitations sometimes.

I genuinely think that giving this man's opinion any attention is a mistake. Taylor hasn't worked with him in over 6 years now and he's directed just half a dozen videos this whole decade. He just wants to attach himself to her legacy, and therefore has a vested interest in how it's portrayed in industry publications.
