Yes, this is one of those OGH mental gymnastics threads. ASIB made $43m (half of what Jennifer's #1 did in its entire run) on opening weekend. Wicked and ASIB will remain the only remembered successes from this list. Taylor too I guess but the eras tour will be remembered as a touring milestone and not a film. :gaycat5:

yes. I thought A Star Is Born topped box office in 2018, so that's what I meant. The song + album only happened in 2019.

 

but it appears A Star Is Born was stuck behind Venom at the box office, so it's not even a matter of the calendar not lining up.

Are we trying to call Pink Panther a greater cinematic achievement than A Star Is Born now? We can go there if you want but I stan both ladies so I'd feel bad for Queen Bey :giraffe:

I just checked out the info and it seems like:

 

ASIB the soundtrack debuted at #1 in 2018, and came back to #1 in 2019 again after Oscars.

Shallow went top 5 in 2018 and reached #1 in 2019 after Oscars yet again.

The movie itself was blocked by Venom in 2018, no wonder why I still remember the constant ASIB vs Venom threads, OGHs had so much fun :hoetenks:

We're ~DEFINITELY~ calling it a #1 film that went #1 the same year as B'Day, Check On It & Irreplaceable

I was confused on what movie Taylor was in. I had to look it up and it was the Eras "film." :rip: I forgot that counts as a movie.

ASIB movie didn't.

 

IF LG7 randomly dropped this year she would've done all 3 this year (assuming and hoping DWAS does this week) :deadbanana2:

Well if she released her album this year she probably would've been eligible (JFAD, LG7 and DWAS when if it tops the Hot 100 next week).

The irony of it being Gaga is the only one out of these that has a successful acting career who started in music.
