Graves Posted Sunday at 09:01 PM Author Posted Sunday at 09:01 PM HIGH SCORE 10 x 9 (kimberly, Moonlight Nation, MusicLoverDude, Invisibility, BowWow, 305, Into The Void, wish, Julia Fox) 9.5 x 2 (greento, Graves) LOW SCORE 1 x 1 (Meloetta Carey) 0 x 3 (K$Ellie, GraceRandolph, Ken Lee) 😭 All the 10's and 0's, I- Pink Pony Club is one of the oldest songs in this rate, but also one of the most current, ironically. Chappell's 2020 single, it got her dropped from her previous record label due to poor sales, but became an anthem that inspired her newfound confidence in her sexuality and identity and paved the way for the rest of Midwest Princess to follow. It began shooting up the charts following her rise to popularity last year and is now one of her most popular songs of all. I think this song is the closest I'll let myself get to being a theatre gay. I like the call and response of the chorus and pre-chorus. "Girl, what have you done?" and the preachiness of the mother character is the perfect foil for the awakening of Chappell Roan. And then the responding chant of the song's title is a wonderful moment of catharsis. Gay awakening bop. Ken Lee: "This should never have made the album. It simply doesn't fit and sounds like a true amateur made it." Invisibility: "The originator, and will always respect that. Sure, it got her fired from her label, but im the end that's what she needed to be where she is standing right now." Moonlight Nation: "Honorary 11. It paints such a compelling and vivid picture, not to mention those epic guitar solos. It's heartwarming to see its trajectory from the song that got her dropped from her label to the career-defining staple it's become." HIGH SCORE 10 x 1 (BowWow) 9 x 5 (Julia Fox, brokee, Ace Reject, MP2K, Rev8) LOW SCORE 4 x 3 (redsing707, Terylee, glitch) 0 x 1 (Meloetta Carey) Chappell's dainty dedication to the fun times that happen in the dead of night. High on life (and sometimes more), feelings get heightened, inhibitions fall and people just let go. She can dance in the moonlight, kiss on those curious straight girls and their boyfriends, just live in bliss for a few precious hours. A #relatable moment for sure, she took me back to college on this one. And it's a mild bop as well! Curaga: "jjghfjlfhg I forgot this was a Chappell song till she started talking because this sounds exactly like a Short n Sweet song." Moonlight Nation: "Among the uptempos, it's probably the safest track production-wise, but it has such a wonderful energy and premise than I still love it regardless. Feel-good pop bliss."
Ewan Chaos Posted Sunday at 09:02 PM Posted Sunday at 09:02 PM So I is too low, I agree. At least it's the highest "slow song" on Brat I guess 1
Ewan Chaos Posted Sunday at 09:04 PM Posted Sunday at 09:04 PM Damn PPC kinda getting sabotaged hiwehwiohiedwd lowkey deserved... I get why it's been a longstanding "kinda hit" for the past few months but I'm glad the true top tracks from that album (well HTG and "honorary Midwest song" GLB) were the actual hits. Feel like some other Chappell songs could have left before PPC though...
Graves Posted Sunday at 09:06 PM Author Posted Sunday at 09:06 PM Within the first three PMs I received, PPC had already scored two of those zeroes She was doomed from the start. 1
Graves Posted Sunday at 09:15 PM Author Posted Sunday at 09:15 PM & the last one for tonight... HIGH SCORE 10 x 3 (redsing707, Terylee, glitch) 9 x 1 (Rev8) LOW SCORE 2 x 1 (jacklovesyou1) 1 x 1 (Ewan Chaos) Tinashe gives a brief exercise in dirty talk on Thirsty, charming her way into our hearts (and into somebody's pants at the same time). She's able to spit her lines quickly and efficiently, managing to mix the outright filthy with the surprisingly deep. We bounce between flirting and warning: yeah, we can fool around but don't play with my heart or anything. Effortlessly cool, a given with Nashe, but always got a little bit of her heart on her sleeve. Curaga: "God, I love her head voice. She sounds so pretty." Ewan Chaos: "Cute song but I had to give a low score to at least one song!" Moonlight Nation: "The brilliant reversed sample only enhances the extremely sultry vibe. Sexy R&B at its finest, with Tinashe's delivery and lyrics effortlessly setting the mood."

glitch Posted Sunday at 09:49 PM Posted Sunday at 09:49 PM Kinda shocked at PPP going out already. I do remember everyone panning it on release day (and then switching when the first day streams came in nnnn) so maybe it makes sense. Only actually got around to listening to Busy Woman for this rate and I really liked it. I think it deserved to stay longer. Thirsty is the best song on Quantum Baby. The fact that No Broke Boys, Nasty and Getting No Streams are still in but that's out...
glitch Posted Sunday at 09:50 PM Posted Sunday at 09:50 PM I didn't realise Pink Pony Club was so divisive? It's one of the better songs on that album imo. After Midnight is kinda boring so not mad about that.
MusicLoverDude Posted Sunday at 10:08 PM Posted Sunday at 10:08 PM Pink Pony Club already out Certainly better than Apple, Nasty and 360
kimberly Posted Sunday at 10:16 PM Posted Sunday at 10:16 PM WHAT THE HELL PINK PONY CLUB SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 10
kimberly Posted Sunday at 10:17 PM Posted Sunday at 10:17 PM hearing pink pony club live was a heavenly experience, a highlight of my year. wow. can't believe some of y'all hate it that much.
K$Ellie Posted Sunday at 10:36 PM Posted Sunday at 10:36 PM PPC OUT wish I had given Espresso a 0 as well now but hopefully my 3 was enough to drag it down
Invisibility Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM Posted yesterday at 01:31 AM PPP and PPC out already Don't Shart with its Spotify fodder throwaway production and lack of any impression still in my 4 was too kind
