It was perfect until that last note, wish it would've been diferent but she nailed it other than that.

The last note was so excellently placed, I actually gasped. :deadbanana:

Celine did that note with more beltimg quality to it which is more impressive. Kelly used too much mixed voice here. Also every single cover that she does she always feels the need to add an extra higher high note just to show off that she can do it better than the original?

It's funny to see people trying to nit pick her performance when none of their favorites can come close to that with live vocals.

I'm probably going to get people riled up with this comment, but her vocal range and control is amazing, she never misses in that aspect.

But her tone is a little dull to me :michael: Like I wouldn't sit down through an entire Kelly Clarkson album.

She gets a lot of praise for her voice, but nobody be checking for her music. Just praising her covers for real. :deadbanana4:

she did great but I'm so tired of these millennials retreating old songs like can you come up with something else?

make an album give us something new we miss power ballads, nobody wants to sing these days :biblionana:

So in All By Myself the band drops out completely for the climax note ("a-ny-mooore") and Céline goes a capella to literally signify that she is all by herself. There's also a key change upwards, which is meant to double the punch and make it sound like she's DEMANDING not to be by herself anymore. The whole point of the arrangement is to build up to that single climactic moment, and then the full band kicks in again, which is supposed to sound like a triumphant resolution (the singer will not be by herself anymore).

Kelly's voice is amazing and she's kept it in incredible shape, but all of that goes out the window when you have a random note that goes higher. :rip:

Anyway, yeah it's just a random TV performance but I wish she'd dig a little deeper into the storytelling of music. She's got the vocals down pat.

It is a daily minute and a half cover for a daytime talk show. :deadbanana4:

Kelly's music has been very stale, uninspired and not very current ever since the Piece By Piece album.

Her type of HAC radio-pop isn't what the streaming-masses will flock to nowadays.

She had the greatest opportunity to deliver a darker, more My December-inspired record after her divorce which everyone anticipated, but it wasn't even close to that and felt very writer camp'd.

Kelly wrote the entire thing except for two songs. She doesn't even do writer camps. If she was 20 and recycled beats and wore skimpy outfits everybody would be be tripping over themselves to say how much they loved her.

This isn't true.

To avoid making material similar to that of Stronger (2011), Clarkson met with various songwriters and showcased several soulful tracks to them to demonstrate the album's direction.[19][20] She remarked that her meeting with various writing camps, discussing what kind of songs she wanted from them and rejecting songs that didn't fit the direction of the album was a "different process" for her.[19][20]Clarkson said that she "wrote a bit", finding inspiration for a song's lyrics in the novel Big Little Lies,[18]but her family life had hindered opportunities for her to contribute more to the writing.[20] Several songwriters such as Ali Tamposi, Mozella, Harlœ, Sebastian Kole, Diztortion, Warren "Oak" Felderhave all confirmed to have submitted material to Clarkson in Nashville.[21]

Man some of you guys are just a bunch of haters. It was a great cover that was less than two minutes on her own talk show. It might not be your cup of tea or favorite cover but you can't deny her talent and the fact that she sounds better singing live more than half of the artists out now.

Meaning of Life was like her best album though imo!

I wouldn't expect anything as dark as My December from Kelly these days because that's just not where she's been at in life for a long time.  I think the songwriting on Chemistry was great, and there are a few stunners on there....but the production was way too watered down and generic which kinda brought it down.

There's still some gems on it like Mine, Me, Skip This Part, Goodbye, and Rock Hudson.

It's from 11 years ago. She has talked about that style of group writing doesn't work for her very recently.

It’s from 7 years ago and also MOL is her second most recent pop album. Kelly has openly said songwriting isn’t her number 1 priority. She’ll write if she’s inspired to do so. But her main focus is emotional delivery of anything she puts on a record. So her tapping other writers is standard and totally reasonable.

Dang Kelly! What a slay!! Celine would be so proud!:clap3:

Xcuse you!

That is rude and uncalled for. Also, who even are you!?

Your fave doesn't even sing live most of the time allegedly, so she can learn something from Kelly and Xtina herself.

I hope you are in a much better place next time you even attempt to shade me or my fave.

HOW RUDE!!!

Good cover and attempt but let's not be delusional girlies…Celine's notes are next level, more resonant, more powerful and Kelly didn't do more notes. She attempted a carbon copy cover but some of her belts fell a little flat. Celine's belts have this crazy resonance to them it's wild but Kelly did really good!

Well she did actually, Celine doesn't hit a G#5 in the original!

She's always had good technique but it's definitely gotten even better in the past year or two, she's been consistently singing with so much more ease than ever.  Her upper range is especially so much clearer

I think a big part of it also is she seems to got strong self confidence which she was maybe lacking a couple of years ago, it must play a big part in vocal capability
