The buzz evaporated!

I have been trying to post but this Khia site is not allowing me!!! :cries:

Anyways, biggest surprise was not Taylor getting completely snubbed since, after all, she put out a Bad album with a lot of Bad music in it. However, the one that I found surprising was PinkPantheress? Not sure how love she gets on ATRL nowadays but Heaven Knows was one of the finest pop albums released during the eligibility period and I thought she would get... something at least! Instead of being completely shut out?

Also is it me or the R&B noms are... kind of bad :rip: I was rooting for Erika de Casier and Sampha to get something?

Another lineup heavy on dance-pop. @khalyan, I'm so sorry!

I’m not too mad outside of yes and!

Sometimes, a nomination makes you question everything you know about the integrity of an awards process. Enter Jade - Angel of My Dreams, a track that has somehow managed to weasel its way into the ATRL Grammys conversation. Let's be real—this nomination reeks of desperation, clout chasing, and, frankly, a severe lapse in musical taste.

Firstly, let's talk about the song itself. "Angel of My Dreams" is neither groundbreaking nor memorable. Its production feels like it was lifted straight from a free stock-music website, with uninspired melodies and a hollow, lifeless beat that wouldn't even make it onto a B-side from a mid-tier pop star. The lyrics are equally banal—filled with clichés so tired they could put a toddler to sleep. If this is what passes for "Grammy-worthy" material, then we might as well start nominating karaoke performances at this point.

What's even more galling is how this track seems to have gained its nomination. It doesn't take much digging to see that this was the result of fan campaigns rather than genuine recognition of artistic merit. Sure, stan culture is a force to be reckoned with, but there's a fine line between supporting your fave and pushing mediocrity into spaces it doesn't belong. Jade's fans may be vocal, but volume doesn't equate to value.

Let's also address the elephant in the room: the competition. This year has been a buffet of artistic excellence, with artists pouring their heart and soul into works that resonate deeply and push boundaries. The inclusion of "Angel of My Dreams" in the same lineup is not just laughable—it's an insult to those who have worked tirelessly to create art that matters. For every slot wasted on filler like this, there's an actual masterpiece being overlooked.

In conclusion, the nomination of Jade - Angel of My Dreams at the ATRL Grammys is a textbook example of how popularity contests can overshadow genuine artistry. It's a sobering reminder that hype often trumps substance in today's music industry. Here's hoping the voters do the right thing and leave this "angel" where it belongs: grounded.

@Patrick, you've got some competition!

Oh, honey, a choice is pretending that "Angel of My Dreams" deserves anything other than a skip button, but here we are, aren't we? I've been on ATRL long enough to see some wild takes, but stanning for that song as your hill to die on? Bold.

Let's be clear: dragging "Angel of My Dreams" isn't slander—it's public service. Someone has to say what the rest of us are thinking while you're out here trying to romanticize mediocrity. You've been on ATRL "for too long"? Clearly not long enough to develop taste. Maybe take a break, refresh your ears, and come back when you're ready to engage with actual music.

Until then, I'll be here—listening to nominees that deserve their spots. Have fun defending elevator music in the comments!

Angel of my dreams has made several year end lists, so it's not like ATRL is out of step with critical opinion here

My Scathing Review (Record Of The Year) -Part 1

Verdict: Absolutely not.

If the ATRL Grammys had a category for "Most Dramatic Song About an Awkward Love Triangle With Your Own Self," Jade's Angel of My Dreams would take the crown—and the mic, and possibly the stage as well, because, let's face it, Jade needs the spotlight. This track is a whirlwind of emotions, a rollercoaster that somehow keeps getting stuck at the bottom of the hill. If record of the year is about making an impression, Jade definitely made one... just not the kind anyone asked for.

Lyrically, Angel of My Dreams is a soap opera—one where Jade spends three minutes explaining that she's deeply in love with someone who doesn't care, then complaining about it over a synth line that could have been programmed by a toaster. If we gave out awards for repeating the word "care" like it's a particularly boring version of "Where's Waldo," Jade would get all the trophies. "Care, care, care, care"—we get it, you're emotional. But where's the depth? Where's the artistry? Maybe it's buried under that pile of Gucci suits, sushi, and the car you bought for someone who clearly doesn't even know your name.

The whole song sounds like it was written during a dramatic rant over a Zoom call with a breakup playlist on shuffle. The chorus? Oh, it's just Jade lamenting how "bittersweet" it is that someone doesn't appreciate her and how she "always" wants them, even though they "don't care." But hey, it's "so bad, it's funny," right? A line so confusing, even an existential crisis couldn't fully grasp it.

And then we get to the bizarre inclusion of the "money" line—because nothing says record of the year like flexing materialism and a slight hint of existential dread. Jade, honey, are we in love with someone, or are we just bitter about your latest financial investment?

The whole thing culminates in a self-absorbed moment of "look at me" mixed with "poor me"—and all of it is punctuated with dramatic flair. Sure, it "feels nice" to be in the spotlight, but maybe it would feel nicer if the song didn't sound like a bad Instagram caption.

Final verdict: Absolutely not for Record of the Year. If there were a category for "Most Confusing Combination of Emo and Show Off," Jade would win without question. But as for top honors? Let's just say, "Angel of My Dreams" isn't quite the angel we're praying for.

And the nominees for ALBUM OF THE YEAR are...

Brat

Charli XCX

Cowboy Carter

Beyoncé

Kacey Musgraves

Eternal Sunshine

Ariana Grande

Hit Me Hard and Soft

Billie Eilish

Imaginal Disk

Magdalena Bay

Radical Optimism

The way five of these are actual AOTY nominees and only Magdalena Bay and Dua don't have a nomination period this year.

A few of the swifties think you are biased against Taylor and rig things against her somehow, but most of them just don't really care because she wins real Grammys.

FWIW, I tried to make "Cruel Summer (Live from TS | Eras Tour)" happen
