Robyn. Posted November 12 Posted November 12 2 hours ago, Titanbaddie said: a couple of things are happening here 1. She peaked early artistically, there's no reason the best music of your career was in the first 3 years of your career 2. Young people are just not interested in what she's selling 3. She's been flopping for a while now musically and that doesn't build trust in the audience The first point is pretty much it. She gave the best material early on in her career. Any attempt to go back to her roots, always feels like a watered down version of her initial sound. With that said, I'd still prefer this over a Million Reasons type of song. It still feels more authentic to her rather than cosplaying as a contemporary artist. 3
ReneighIsHere Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Disease gives me AI vibes. As if someone played some gaga songs to an AI machine and told them to make a new song. It brings nothing new to the table, sounds like some of her old dark songs, but less inspired and catchy. Also, the gp is not here for her unless she's singing a ballad or doing boring stuff, and her fanbase that liked the edgy stuff is not as strong anymore. 4 1

TFM and BTW heavily carry her streams but all her studio albums from 2013 onwards - Artpop, Joanne, Chromatica etc. are all doing 500k or less streams per album.
Shelter Posted November 12 Posted November 12 She needed a more upbeat song and some choreo TikTok can jump on.

TipToe Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Bad choice for a lead and she doesn't have enough public interest for it to be carried based on hype aka her name isn't as big as her fans like to think. Simple as that.
MusicIsMyMaster Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Honestly sometimes its simple, the lyrics are too sinister for mainstream audiences.

scottydog Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I think her fanbase aged out of listening to her music on repeat and the younger audience just isn't into this style of music.
toy soldier. Posted November 12 Posted November 12 It's not catchy and there's no hook. I honestly don't know what she was thinking, I said it from the beginning it didn't sound like a hit. It's like if Bloody Mary was not catchy Also the lyrics are so uninspired and boring 2
Rigalo Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Literally no artist out right now would make this song a hit lol and I'm sure she/her label knew that
