This. It's an annoying song that doesn't flow.

a couple of things are happening here

1. She peaked early artistically, there's no reason the best music of your career was in the first 3 years of your career

2. Young people are just not interested in what she's selling

3. She's been flopping for a while now musically and that doesn't build trust in the audience

The first point is pretty much it.

She gave the best material early on in her career. Any attempt to go back to her roots, always feels like a watered down version of her initial sound.

With that said, I'd still prefer this over a Million Reasons type of song. It still feels more authentic to her rather than cosplaying as a contemporary artist.

Disease gives me AI vibes. As if someone played some gaga songs to an AI machine and told them to make a new song. It brings nothing new to the table, sounds like some of her old dark songs, but less inspired and catchy. Also, the gp is not here for her unless she's singing a ballad or doing boring stuff, and her fanbase that liked the edgy stuff is not as strong anymore.

Agreed and her numbers reflect it. TFM and BTW heavily carry her streams but all her studio albums from 2013 onwards - Artpop, Joanne, Chromatica etc. are all doing 500k or less streams per album.

She needed a more upbeat song and some choreo TikTok can jump on.

like this point alone makes me respect the song and commend her efforts even more... artists are just like any other creative human being. they can only create the type of music they want to

i mean i didn't say it's a bad thing, i'd much prefer her going with this sound than releasing more ballads (even tho happy mistake is lowkey my favorite thing she's done in years). i just don't think it's very surprising that the gp isn't jumping on the song

No other artist to carry

Bad choice for a lead and she doesn't have enough public interest for it to be carried based on hype aka her name isn't as big as her fans like to think. Simple as that.

Honestly sometimes its simple, the lyrics are too sinister for mainstream audiences.

There is no interest in Gaga unless Bruno or Ariana is also attached

I think her fanbase aged out of listening to her music on repeat and the younger audience just isn't into this style of music.

It's not catchy and there's no hook.

I honestly don't know what she was thinking, I said it from the beginning it didn't sound like a hit. It's like if Bloody Mary was not catchy

Also the lyrics are so uninspired and boring

Literally no artist out right now would make this song a hit lol and I'm sure she/her label knew that
