Rotunda Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I do think between DWAS smashing and JFAD flopping it got pretty much ignored in terms of public interest. It also has those overdramatic vocals (which I personally love) that aren't really made for radio/casual listeners. 5
BGKC Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) It's very cliché. Like it's a dark version of The Cure released around Halloween and now we're onto Mariah season. Edited November 12 by BGKC 3 1
manuelalex9810 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Because is a bad song and she can only survives with collabs 1 1
Paddy Posted November 12 Posted November 12 It's not very catchy, the instrumental feels cold which in fairness is with Gaga intentional but it's not listener friendly. It lacks the catchy vibe Bad Romance, Bloody Mary or Dance In The Dark have.
Delirious Posted November 12 Posted November 12 It's sound like a parody of a gaga song. Still a bop tho but aged poorly 3
ICLDXU4HS Posted November 12 Posted November 12 There's nothing interesting, fresh or exciting about it. It's lyrical and visual themes she's done (better) a million times before. Running out of ideas and becoming creatively stuck and boring was always the last thing I thought would happen to her. She's in dire need of a drastic reinvention. 5
Titanbaddie Posted November 12 Posted November 12 a couple of things are happening here 1. She peaked early artistically, there's no reason the best music of your career was in the first 3 years of your career 2. Young people are just not interested in what she's selling 3. She's been flopping for a while now musically and that doesn't build trust in the audience 6 1
NextBish90 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I think if it was released during the Olympics it would smash. After Joker some of the hype has vanished. It's a bad timing, not a bad song for real. The song is great actually! 1
monster_enriquer Posted November 12 Posted November 12 But it IS a GREAT song and critics agree too. 1

Maleficent Posted November 12 Posted November 12 She's a honky-tonk angel now. Pour the moonshine and light up the bonfire, it's time to party! Yeehaw!
Fladel Posted November 12 Posted November 12 It's a song that caters to her brainrot dark bawp fans. I could smell the floppage from miles away. 3 1 2
Shimenawa Posted November 12 Posted November 12 She only seems to smash with duets now but it's okay Katy Perry flopped more
Nazareth Posted November 12 Posted November 12 The song is everything we've wanted but its release just wasn't marketed well in the mix of things happening for her now. They should have released the single on the 18th Oct. And the teasing should have begun a little earlier as well with confirmed dates for a music video being announced too. We all know Gaga is promo sensitive, so the best thing to do despite Joker promo would have been to have her launch the single on radio stations. Even if it were zoom interviews like Adele did for Easy On Me, radio interviews on release day to get her talking would have been great. They also missed opportunities to focus on the markets where the song started off well, like Europe. A cute daytime TV interview and performance would've set the era off. I still have hopes for LG7, but they need to market the project well that's all. But who tf actually cares when the music and stadium tour will come through! 1
blown away Posted November 12 Posted November 12 It doesn't click with the public, simple as that. It happens to everyone all the time. Gaga has had multiple hits over the course of 16 years and her legacy as a talented artist is cemented. She'll be alright. 1
ScorpiosGroove Posted November 12 Posted November 12 the same sound that made her flop in the first place is doing it again, shocker 1
helpthomas Posted November 12 Posted November 12 idk and PERSONALLY idc, because i like the song and i'm just happy she's doing electronic pop music and kept it very trademark Gaga very puzzled about the one post in here trying to draw a parallell between Disease and Kim Petras, i find Disease very Gaga. it's hard, loud, and melodically very much how she's always written songs. and yeah maybe these factors that make the song uniquely hers are the things that keeps it from clicking from the GP and that's unfortunate but for her fans, well i can only speak for myself, it's comforting and we're grateful she's still sticking to her guns 1

Radical Pessimism Posted November 12 Posted November 12 It's an old Gaga sound. Ppl want a more stripped-down version of Gaga, so that's why a die with a smile is smashing!
Outlaws Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Let's be real, it's not the type of earcandy song that will be played and payola'd all over radio and that will be everywhere. To me both the song and music video were released way too late and her teams didn't capitalize on Halloween as much as they could have. People are basically thinking of Christmas now. The Mariah effect, I guess
