Dante Silva Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I did it to induce a feeling of openness, confidence and a loss of inhibition. I am not Gen Z but I have read from time to time that they feel their irl socialisation skills are compromised by a blend of helicopter parenting and growing up with an iPad in their hands as a means to stave boredom. To a certain extent what they never learned through social interaction growing up, they can find a fix for in alcohol consumption as it will bring down inhibitions and make irl social interaction possible, but it's not healthy, it will wear off and after a few years the hangovers will become harder to bear.
Kavish Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I mostly drink wine and cocktails and those are delicious. I drink because it helps me unwind, be more social, and I show a happier and livelier version of myself when I am drunk. Otherwise I mostly look moody and serious.
JoeAg Posted November 9 Posted November 9 being tipsy/drunk is seriously so much fun I know it affects different people differently, and that's fascinating in itself, but it also kind of just brings the most authentic you out. if at your core you're a chaotic but overall sympathetic person, or just a very complex person, or just plain old fun, then drinking is just the bestttttt! I somehow get both more confident AND more bashful when I'm drunk, it's an interesting facet of my personality. I also get FUNNY and HORNY! and I love to dance and my voice sounds clear as a bell and I love cuddling when I'm drunkity... omg I LOVE DRUNK CUDDLES STFU THAT'S MY FAV OF AWL TOYYMMMM 3
Bussea Posted November 9 Posted November 9 bc it's fun. if its not for you then its simply not for you a little white claw or whine never hurt nobody

TedLasso Posted November 9 Posted November 9 I grew up hating the taste of alcohol and then it just hit me lol. I've never been drunk but a couple beers while eating a big meal just feels good.
Goaty Posted November 9 Posted November 9 cuz the range of experience from "tipsy" to "drunk" is really fun. a shame the stuff is so bad for you though
bad guy Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Because hundreds of years of culture and customs associated with celebration? It's like asking why people eat turkey on Thanksgiving
Onyxmage Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Excuse me but does your mommy know you are on this website? 1

Pavement Princess Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Y'all need to practice self hygiene if you smell like **** after a glass of wine. Alcohol is fun!
GentleEarthquake Posted November 9 Posted November 9 Because it's so normalized you almost have to drink it to fit in

Homebrand Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Bc its fun and a nice little way to relax after the monotonous monday - friday life (and yes like with majority of things in life, everything in moderation) And nobody cares if you don't like drinking, you're not special or unique. Sorry to break it to you
HANZ94 Posted November 10 Posted November 10 because society has taught us that it is the best way to have fun and being cool when in reality beer tastes horrible mixed drinks are good once in a while but every weekend? no thanks

Not to mention the dumb stuff people do after drinking too much. I just don't understand the appeal? For the same reason people consume sugar, refined carbs, gossip, social media, cigarettes, pop music, gore movies, tattooes.... You know it's not essential to live, not always quality and most of the time you use that to ease an inner pain.... But this is life!!!! It triggers good feeling inside of you for a short amount of time.... Even if there are a lot of side effects. Edited November 10 by Bencharmer
Hollywood. Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Alcohol is fine in moderation, but it certainly has its negatives. There was a time when I drank more alcohol than water, and it got me involved with shady people and down some very dark paths including a controlling and abusive relationship. Last year following the death of a close friend, I almost slipped back into those habits but quickly sought help. Now, I only have a drink or so on the odd occasion (like a wedding anniversary, birthday.)
Bubble Tea Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Because it's fun and social because people let their guards down and relax. And there's so many types and flavours. A GAW JUS glass of rosé on a summery afternoon with friends? Name a greater pleasure.
flower moon Posted November 11 Posted November 11 i dont really drink tbh. i avoid people that rely of drinking to socialise. 1
HealerKirby Posted November 11 Posted November 11 tbh I just don't like the taste of alcohol in general, even though I have tried them all But the main thing is I feel unsafe around people who drink; like growing up I just hate how all the men (in the context of SEA cultures) would get drunk and raised their voices at me, making me feel like I would get beaten if I refuse their drinks. These days I only chill with my girlies in fancy tea/coffee shops and refuse any social events that I have to drink (I'm lucky because my line of work allows me that freedom)
