If you look into it, Gaga has repeatedly complained about Madonna for a long time (way more so than Madonna), saying things far worse than anything Madonna has said. (Madonna has actually always been complimentary about gaga too)

Well it's SNL, you don't have to take this too seriously. She was wrong to use the situation like that but tbh she was right to not support Sinead's rebellion act. Her message was important but the way she expressed it was dumb and Madonna isn't an iconoclast... she is critical of the institution but always talked about the importance of catholicism in her life, in many instances she is respectful torwards the church. So no, it's no hypocrisy, she was simply insensitive.

Also I don't think y'all zoomers and Eurotwinks understand what or how big the Joey Buttafuoco scandal was in America. His underage mistress shot his wife in the face. Madonna was criticizing a more immediate and tangible example of male corruption but it did not age well since that story stayed in 1992 whereas there's been three decades of corruption in the Catholic Church since then.
