stjosephprey4us Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Just trying to gauge some opinions girlies. Realistically speaking, what are your thoughts?
St. Charles Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Honestly I have zero idea. Maybe the worst is if they find a way to outright ban abortion and start mass deporting people? They might look into banning certain protected rights from marginalized groups. But the thing is, the bills and laws take time to create and the Supreme Court can't do anything until a case is escalated to them. There's a ton of terrible things that could happen, but they could also be bumbling ineffective idiots. 1
Popular Post KillingYourCareer Posted November 6 Popular Post Posted November 6 Feels like 2016 all over again, everyone's overreacting but in reality not much will change. There will be some ragebait law proposals that will steal attention from actual issues that'll go ignored. Maybe the US will get a bit better at international diplomacy since that's something TRUMP was doing right at least. 25 1 2
Gladiator Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I think the people catastrophizing are a little bit dramatic, but I get it. I was with my friends last night and they were talking about how they have to flee the country because they're gonna put in camps because he's gonna sick the military on them and take away their rights. Realistically I feel like not much will change for most people within the country, but I do fear for the implications outside of the country. 1
Resquid Posted November 6 Posted November 6 It's not gonna be that bad, I think. Trump is a clinically insane individual, but at least he's sorta predictable. He wants to steal money, he wants to get out of his legal troubles, he wants to feel powerful, and he'll stay focused on that over everything else for the first years. He doesn't really care about immigration, LGBTQ issues, or the economy at all. I don't think too much harm will be done. I could be wrong tho ofc 3
Onyxmage Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Its over for us tbh. Lets just try to have as much fun as possible for the next 3 months. 2

The difference is now seems like Republican has full control of all four powers, president, senate, house and supreme court. They can push their agenda faster than last time. 4

Combined with a red House, red Senate, red Supreme Court and red White House? 4

They can push whatever agenda they want, but if it goes against public opinion (gay marriage for example is supported by two-thirds of Americans) they'll think twice, and if people see that the quality of their lives hasn't improved at all despite this agenda, you'll see them switching like Nickies. That person will give everyone brain worms for free. 1

Umm...if they're winning the House of Representatives they will pass his Agenda 47 agenda and they are alligned with Project 2025 although the extent to what they pass is unclear 1

Not true. Trump's first presidency did not improve the lives of Americans, instead he left office with a million US citizens dead... (the most since the Vietnam war I believe). But they were able to blame the Dems at every turn. Rural Americans will feel Trump's bad policies the strongest... and I hope they appreciated what they have voted for. I think people have to FEEL and live the consequences of a truly moronic government before waking up from their cultish sleep. Donald is like the 15th president that I have experienced in my short life on this earth and every single time... The Republican Government was ultimately worse than the Democratic one and STILL Americans are voting them in. 1

Combined with a red House, red Senate, red Supreme Court and red White House? idk I'm not american love but I see a lot of people profoundly distressed and unwell due to this result, so I'm just trying to throw some good energy and calm vibe to the situation you guys might be ok after all, you know? Things might be ok. in any case all the people you mentioned sound like criminal grifters anyway, so I'd expect they'll try to get as much money as they can while they're in power, caring very little about ruling over too many social issues. Just a guess. If it's full panic mode for you then that's fine too Edited November 6 by Resquid Spelling

dawnettakins Posted November 6 Posted November 6 It's not gonna be any worse than the last 4 yrs of Trump imo. Does that mean it won't be bad? No. But all the leftists who were fearmongering about it being the end and that's it's going to be the worst were overstating and overblowing it. We're all still here, and will remain to be. We ain't going anywhere. Just like we were under the last 4 yrs of Trump. Doesn't mean nothing horrible or crazy will happen, it's sure to be a wild, insane 4 yrs. But it shouldn't be overstated and overblown. 1 1
Dula Peep Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Let's hope WWIII soon and all the major cities get nuked and we get killed as quickly as possible and the middle of the country that voted for him die slowly with their skin falling off.
alexrex Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Sadly, the end of Palestine and benefits to Russia over Ukraine.

The political climate around the world is totally different. 8 years ago there are no major wars going on, now there are two that deeply effect every country. 8 years ago economy is rising everywhere, now many countries came out of pandemic with a broken economy. 8 years ago, there aren't many countries that lean far right, but now there are. You can't compare then and now. The situation is too different to say it'll be the same like the last time. Edited November 6 by GipJo 1 1
