I dont think she ever talked about re-recording, I know there was some talks about puting the mixtapes on streaming and I was under the impression that her team is trying to sort things out to be able to put the original mixtapes on streaming. This is the first time im reading about re-recording.

i hope she does it, even if she changes some things around and updates the production. Original mixtapes will always be available online, but with re-recordings we wil have fresh versions and the mixtapes on streaming. Some songs from the vault would be very welcome too!

she's talked about it before, specifically during tea time on amp when she was doing that as well as once or twice on twitter. the first time was around when she talking about taylor's album and how she loved mirrorball and it was brought up how she would consider re-recording the mixtapes and how she would maybe want to fix/change a few things in some songs cause she thinks she could make them better and said or maybe she should just leave them be and basically it was just something she was willing to look into.

she's discussed the mixtapes and streaming at length at this point and tbh i think the discussions don't necessarily get passed around too much because the fans that are around when she talks about it know that she does get a bit angry/annoyed sometimes by the constant talk of it when she's addressed it multiple times now.

I feel so sorry for people who don't know this song exists.

She should release this as one project split in three parts like the weekends trilogy. Otherwise her streaming profile will look a mess & it'll probably chart high.

She hasn't even started recording yet for part 3, so she could quite easily use it as promo for Prt 3 of her current series. Build back R&B fanbase & even do a special mini tour to pay for costs.

Q3 2025 Mixtape release.

Q1 2026 Prt 3 release.

Most people don't even know these exist so it'll do great numbers wise imo

The mixtapes have a lot of samples & legacy (her ex's) production. Plus she always viewed it as a distraction from current music, I think now she has attention back that's prob the reason for her change of heart :rip:

Loving this thread cause there's so many ways to rollout all four mixtapes.

I like the idea of the first three being packaged up as one project since they narratively make sense together, like Abel. But I also get wanting drop them one-by-one so that's able to give them each their own moment and keep her name out there, like Taylor. Plus it would allow for to have multiple drops while taking time to create new stuff and keep her yearly release schedule that we love.

I guess the compromise could be:

  • 2025: BBA3
  • 2026: First three mixtapes bundled as one project, but also uploaded separately to streaming.
  • 2027: T11
  • 2028: Amethyst (Tinashe's Version)
  • 2029: T12
