charts discussion HDD: Charli & Jelly Roll are going head to head trying to get numbers thrown out

Charlie is the one who packaged her remix album that she promoted like it was a stand-alone project with her latest album unlike recent remix albums by literally everyone else to get that #1 while Jelly Roll just has a studio album selling very well. Charli is doing an extended version of what some acts do when they add popular hits as last-minute bonus tracks to their albums.

I am a Charli stan (well moreso a brat stan but whatever) but tbh, tacking a whole remix album onto your original album to make it count as one album is like… too much  the Stan in me hopes she gets the #1, but Billboard really should not allow this behavior.

Not the downvotes on my post 

 

All I said is that it's a battle for #1 and Charli doesn't not have the #1 album this week when it's comprised of TWO albums: the BRAT album and the remix album. Jelly Roll literally is doing this with his one studio album.

Maybe worldwide cause her songs didn't even reach top 40 on hot 100 despite the radio support.only the remix with Billie was 'hot' for one week!

She's far from the 1st act to attach new songs to a pre existing project to push it back up the chart, there's too many examples to count. If Billboard counts fans spending $5 to hear 1 new song as an album purchase then why tf wouldn't $5 for 16 new songs not count? Why should she be singled out?

This is a rich argument to make as a Little Monster I'm sorry, a lot of TFM's most impressive stats come from the fact that it was combined in many markets and sold as a deluxe despite it really being a separate EP in her discography

That's common practice in the industry, why shouldn't she hustle to try and get number 1. Plenty of bigger artists do the same.
