That's not how human psychology works. People face disappointment. People face hardships. People face pain and suffering. People face hopelessness. That's why they often don't vote. People not voting is a failure of politicians, not the non-voters. and disenfranchised and disillusioned voters are indirectly Trump's biggest base. 10 minutes ago, Communion said: People not voting is a failure of politicians, not the non-voters. and we have terrible politicians running this country into the ground and slaughtering children in the 10s of thousands because checks notes we allow them in under a lazy democracy I'm not saying I don't empathize with her(I actually live in a red state), but we're humans and possess willpower. These voices can often be the most important ones. We can channel those feelings into solutions instead of into accidental complacency. Agreed on leaving it here though we'll never agree on anything more. Edited October 5 by Sheep 5

Plenty of research has shown that those who can afford to be most politically active are the privileged. And I've seen firsthand how people have had hope election after election only for none of their circumstances to get better, no matter who was elected. And I cannot fault them for that The two party system is broken, America has a rightwing party and an extreme-rightwing party. The fact y'all need to point towards a fascist and say 'well at least our candidate isn't a fascist' to give her credibility as if the standard Democratic presidential nominee wouldn't be labelled a rightwing war criminal if elected in any other developed nation You deserve better, and shielding the Democrats from any criticism is not going to make that happen Voting for Kamala doesn't just mean you're supporting the democrats. Of course they need to be criticized, and deservedly so. But it could also mean you're trying to prevent something far far worse to happen, and that's Trump winning. Because one of them is taking office, whether you like it or not. People who would want to "washed their hands off it" and basically saying "they're both bad. I'm not voting, it won't affect me anyway" doesn't really understand the impact of this election. You have been given a right to pick your leader and you chose to waste just because you think voting is a ride-or-die thing. 3 1 1

Fleahive Posted October 6 Posted October 6 People saying this weird don't wanna know what site I use to look up what party folks are registered under. However only about 8 states release that information. If you don't know someone from those states then it's useless.
teresaguidice Posted October 6 Posted October 6 couldn't the time blue maga spends obsessing over this girl be used to phone bank for the candidate they're passionate about? 2
Letters From Adi Posted October 6 Posted October 6 Entitled Americans fighting over the "lesser evil", while bombing innocent people across the world regardless. I'm fully with her on this. 3

Cain Posted October 6 Posted October 6 6 hours ago, san784 said: So you're saying it's a waste of time to vote then? No? I'm saying you lack basic human empathy if you don't get why people who have historically and systematically been oppressed (ie the working class, their conditions have actually worsened and no politician operates in their interest) no matter what president they are under do not see the point in voting anymore. And shouting "well if you don't vote you're PRIVILEGED" is not going to solve any issues, instead you should try to understand how these issues have come about, why a huge chunk of the most vulnerable people have given up on politics and what would be conducive for them to turn around (spoiler; it's not on them) 1 4
