The Kats in here acting like Joker 2 flopped because of Gaga and not because of the director

Even the reviews that say that the movie is bad say that Gaga did a great job, meanwhile Katy's album being bad IS her responsibility since she has total creative control over it

Again with this jazz none sense. NO ONE knew the sound of the project until the album was released. So if people were perched to check out new music from the artist who currently has a #1 song in the world, they would've checked out her latest release as soon as it became available, and the AFTER learning that it's a "jazz" album, would've stopped streaming the it. This means that she would've at least received decent first day numbers before they plummeted due to the "genre", but that's not what happened.

Moreover, the original lead single, which held a top spot on the TTH chart for an entire week and was supported by a music video and performance, is sonically similar to her current number-one song and is NOT a jazzy song. Despite this, it failed to achieve decent numbers.

That entire essay when

a) Everyone was aware by the tracklist that these were covers from the movie, excep maybe her most delusional stans.

b) Happy Mistake did not get a music video (maybe you dreamed that up? Folie a Deux?) and it was featured in like the 41th position of TTH. It was not treated as a single release at all.

Harlequin must've flopped into oblivion since you don't even seem to be aware of it.

Katy nucked the **** out of her already on life support career. Gaga got an acclaimed (by critics and the gp) performance on a panned movie.

I don't know how to explain to you that well received jazz side project will not do to Gaga's monumental pop career what 143 did to Katy's remaining 3 katycats.

I don't think anyone was expecting an album full of jazz covers to smash :thing: and even then it has a 73 score on metacritic, something 143 failed to do, so

I don't know how to explain to you that Gaga has zero star power since she couldn't even get 10% of the people streaming her current #1 song to click play on her latest release once.

Eh I don't really get the arguments that JFAD bombing is a bigger deal than 143 bombing.

Every famous actor ends up with a handful of panned, flop movies, but they rarely take the heat for flops unless they have a string of box office bombs. People see a movie's director as the "artist" and blame them. Actors usually get to just move on to their next project, and in Gaga's case, she had the foresight to sandwich JFAD between DWAS and LG7.

143 on the other hand is the type of era that  could get someone dropped from their label  :deadbanana2: Especially after multiple flop albums in a row.

143 is seen as Katy's own personal failure, and her public perception went from "aw, the Teenage Dream girl is flopping now, oh well, she's still great for a throwback" to "look how desperate and cringe she is, and she's an awful person for working with Dr. Luke" :deadbanana:

There isn't any positive news in sight for Katy. Her label poured millions into her "YAS MOTHER!!!! BLACK HAIR IS BACK!!!!" "Dr. Luke is back!!!" "comeback" era. All those music videos + an entire Luke-produced album do not come cheap. They're very unlikely to support her next project the same way. Oh it's bad bad for Katy.

Kats were definitely HUMBLED more, all things considered. A few months ago they were so sure mother and her dark hair were coming to slay!!!!1! like the old days.

And FAD is something that's going to get Gaga dropped from the movie industry completely. There are going to be lay-offs at Warner.

You dont wtf you're talking about. If not even Madonna with her 20+ panned dead behind the eyes movie killer performances did, why do you think Gaga will after her third acclaimed performance in a row?

A song with no radio deal, no music video, minimal playlisting and that doesn't have a trendy sound? :thing:

I think while no one expected Katy to do remarkably well, not even her stans from what I saw, the little monsters were beyond convinced that JFAD would be a commercial and critical hit. Humbling implies a letting down of expectations and that goes to the little monsters. On paper Gaga's done (slightly) better than Katy, but I don't recall Katy stans thinking she was going to sweep awards, sell a lot, or get a major hit. The little monsters thought so though, especially after Katy's massive bomb and the success with Bruno, got cocky and extended their dragging to other acts, only for it to come back to bite them in the ass (yet again)

The Hive thought that Bey was destined for her first AOTY win just for the whole era to deflate within mere weeks of being out and completely out of ppl's mouth's once Billie, Taylor, and Sabrina released. Not to mention the current controversy her name is being thrown around in.

Kats have been humbled for years but it was for them another rebound because as far as they could see she was going to be able to rival Gaga again and even more of a win for their own fave they would want to see their nemesis fall.

The Hive isnt getting their hopes up for AOTY for a fourth straight time.

All of Bey's albums from ST onward have kinda been the same song and dance:

Great first week sales

Universal critical acclaim

1-2 respectable hits

A strong tour (if applicable)

Questionable strategy

Underwhelming awards show success
