fridayteenage Posted October 5 Posted October 5 so based on that logic: Gaga regular albums that got 100+ weeks on the bb200 - the fame (2008) = 1 Gaga side project (so it doesn't count as an album?) - a star is born = 1

Its quite clear which project is a side project. The mental gymastics you OGHs have to do every time 1 2

Because the post I'm quoting is implying that (low-ish, but IMO, far from tragic) sales are all due to the nature of the album. Yet she did 131k with CTC and 41k with LFS (which was kinda dumped out without any fanfare due to Tony's health problems). So yes, cover / side project etc. albums are not meant to do as well as studio albums, but to say that this particular sales number is "good" when Gaga herself used to do so much better would be dishonest. If this is "good", then what were The Gift sales? Outstanding? But no one was saying at that time, lbr, they were all shitting on Bey. Maybe it was Tony who was bringing most of these sales and we are only now seeing the often mentioned "Gaga's impact" but I doubt people are ready for this conversation. 1

The number is clearly not good. Those are definitely poor sales, anyone saying otherwise is either trolling or delusional. However, Harlequen was only available to purchuse on her website and the shipment is next week, October 11th. Unlike Love For Sale which was available everywhere. Not saying it would've done much better but I'd say it could've matched Love for Sales debut week with a broader release.

I know about the physicals situation, I wanted to buy it on CD as I LOVE the cover but hey, you've got to be honest sometimes. Good on you for telling it like it is.
sadnews Posted October 5 Posted October 5 we're in 2024. sales from those offline retails are horrible. and physicals were shipped on first week. the new narrative is not all of them were shipped tho. let's see how it goes next week...

The Gift was a fully original album with a ton of high-profile collabs and big producers. It even had a rollout campaign with multiple singles. This is a collection of old showtunes and jazz covers. The Gift was released just in digital unlike gags who was released in physical and with multiple variants and it had three official singles, one from the ost album, the second one after the buzz it got on the internet and the other one a year after release and it wasn't originally from the album, it was a single she dropped for juneteenth and later added to the gift deluxe edition when black is king was released

Well if she releases something folksy out of nowhere that reminisces of her Hudson days i know people would be invested in listening to it, i know it could get way more praise than this project for sure. And considering 143 sales were driven by her few stans i can see it managing to at least have 20k secured which is not that far away from Harlequin. Edited October 6 by Julia Fox

byzantium Posted October 7 Posted October 7 The thing is we all know how liddos would react if Beyonce debuted below 100k or Taylor debuted under like 300k. This thread is rather tame in comparison.
