Is Eternal Sunshine a flop ?

Recommended Posts

I think it is time we had this conversation about this era.

Yes, And was a bit of a letdown and needed around 20 versions to hit no 1. That Mariah mix was an awful misstep. We cant be friends did well but seems kinda forgotten now, while The boy is mine completely tanked and the remix with Brandy and Monica made no noise and seemed a bit pointless on reflection.

The album quickly dropped down charts and the era seems to be done already.

Would you agree that it was a flop for Ariana considering the hype she had or at least an underperformance ?

No.

Yes, and? and We Can't Be Friends are certified hits, more so the latter. The album was cute, the era served its purpose to shift the narrative of her scandal and lowkey promote Wicked.

Considering the SpongeBob baby mama drama, I thought the album would be received more negatively. Positions flew under the radar for anyone who isn't a diehard stan, this one is talked about way more. So that's a win for Ariana I guess lol

Didn't the album just cross 3B streams?

We can't be friends at #23 on Global Spotify and the album was #19 in the Global Spotify charts last week

No ES isn't forgotten and it spawned 2 #1 hits and wasn't her Album a multi-week #1 too?

no, this discussion is tired at this point

first day streams: 58 million

200 million streams first week.

2 number 1 songs. WCBF is still doing numbers, don't let it's billboard performance fool you.

230k debut.

7th album, knowing that she never had a disastrous "flop" era, compared to other pop girls

That Brandy and Monica remix is anything but pointless as it was a clear homage to their original The Boy Is Mine and was done to help the song on the charts.

Not a flop, but overshadowed. The GP sadly moved on from the album quickly; there was just too much going on in the pop world.

No but people certainly let her get away with such a big underperformance. It seemed like she recovered from the disastrous lead single with wcbf but the album fell down the charts much quicker than any of her albums since ME and no one batted an eye

Yes. Two back to back lackluster eras from Ariana + r.e.m beauty flopped. If Wicked tanks.... :doc:

There were so many pop girl releases this year and it kinda got lost in between. The era is pretty uneventful though

It's smaller than Positions in the US but it's doing better outside that. It's also doing 7.1m daily streams. Y'all are acting like it's doing 3m streams or something :rip: it'll be bigger than Sweetner and Positions WW when all said and done.

It's not a flop, but it being very close to GUTS in daily streams and way under it on the BB200 can't be a good sign either…

With most songs with play counts in the 9 digits, I fear Ariana haters lost again!!!!!!!
