Iceland Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Given the recent events with the biggest downfall of the decade, do you think there's any chance another former pop girl could match Katy's latest era in terms of success and acclaim? I think Camillla is on her way to her own 143 era. The stats for CCXOX are pretty bad, so her future doesn't look too bright. share your opinions 1

Space Cowboy Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Xtina already did Demi already did Kesha already did Jlo already did Britney if she decides to unretire Selena is she decides to release another album Mariah 4
dumbsparce Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) Plenty of pop girls have but they were never as massive as Katy. If we're talking about someone of her former status the candidates are Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, Taylor, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, etc. I don't see any of them fighting for a top 10 debut any time soon. She'll clearly only release when she has a GREAT body of work in her hands. 3 1

BrattyBottom Posted September 22 Posted September 22 No. She's one of a kind in this department. None of her peers could release and market something so catastrophic.

But at the very least they both had a notable single attached to them. and Glory was at least received positively by critics. 143 has no hit, no fanfare, is critically panned and completely bombed sales wise. Like there's no redeeming thing that would help this era not be an overwhelming flop. Unless she's able to get something to stick. Not to mention... She received valid, negative, backlash. This is the kind of era that will need an apology or something jklad;jfdsj;v it's not lookin too pretty Edited September 22 by Bey_Rihstan 4

Popular Post awong918 Posted September 22 Popular Post Posted September 22 Not people saying Gaga Her fanbase is a bit too powerful to allow her to flop this hard. Plus, she has the #1 song in the world atm. 15

Rotunda Posted September 22 Posted September 22 There's not really another MPG where people still have expectations for them but also know they're capable of fully flopping.
Bloodflowers. Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Isn't C,XOXO on par with 143 when looking how commercially successfulit was?
Badgalbriel Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Kats told me Gaga is in the same boat as Katy, so this is what I'm expecting for her next era. Anything above that I'll consider a mega success. 3
gustavothehuman Posted September 22 Posted September 22 (edited) I don't think a 143-sized bomb will be possible ever again to be honest. Most artists still maintain their dignity after a panned bomb at least, and Katy flopped even on that department Edited September 22 by gustavothehuman
Katy.Kat.23 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Probably Katy lol this was so catastrophic that I could see people tuning in just to see what she does next as long as she doesn't wait another 4 years, even if it is just to whack her again

Yeah but Camila being a total tank supported by features, a heavy promotional push, and label obfuscation is a long running joke No one expected C,XOXO to do ANYTHING, especially not after they heard the first five seconds of I Luv It. Katy, on the other hand, has spent the past several years building goodwill and hype for a comeback, and there were expectations of something, which has obviously not panned out. Plus, I don't think anyone in their right mind would put Camila in the same tier of pop star as Katy in terms of peak or relevance or even fanbase. 2
