But it's clear that the rest/most of the album is Britney's vision and most likely her favorite work Yes, Jive tacked Outrageous and Boom boom on the album as ITZ was not only a departure from her teen pop sound but what against the trend. In 2002-2003, pop stars either overtanned their body or changed their accent to sound more "urban" Originally, Jive wanted Outrageous to lead the album. Is it a bad song? No. Does it cover the direction she was headed in personally? Yes. Did it follow a trend? Yes, which is why Britney didn't want it. Britney used Madonna as a means to release Me against the music which captured the underground trend and went against the grain of urban pop music. R. Kelly raised a big issue and publicly criticized Britney for not going with his song. Me against the music underperformed. Then, at one point, Jive put out Outrageous AND boom boom to urban radio aiming to push either if they took off. They did not. They did get into the top 60 on urban and got 100s of spins, though. Then Jive wanted to follow the Cry me a river stunt after Like I love you (MATM) underperformed. Britney wasn't ready. Then they wanted to push Breathe on me for controversy and Britney was adamant that Toxic ends up the next single or she'd stop promotion. Jive not believing in Toxic release it to radio in late December during the worst time ever BUT Toxic was such a smash that it defied expectations and smashed. I would have paid money for Outrageous to be swapped for I've just begun having my fun and GHMP would have MP, Outrageous and Do Something I would have paid money for And then we kiss to serve as the track after Breathe on may and remove that alarm clock painful MATM remix at the end. At least MATM justice remix made a mid song sound great. Utopia In the zone: These tracks are cute but No to any of them. Sorry to that man meme. Maybe Because I like it 1. Toxic 13. Don't hang up 14. Shadow 15. Look who's talking now 16. Brave New girl with less produced chorus and a third verse 17. Everytime 18. Me against the music justice remix GH MP: 1. I mean, I absolutely adore it as well but looking at the material I agree with the songs Britney was pushing. Imagine Toxic remaining relegated to a deep cut And Outrageous did nothing for her career and it had R. Kelly's name attached to it which would've been a stain in the long run had it been a hit. Which I really believe it would have never happened anyway. Edited September 22 by ChooseyLover

Which I really believe it would have never happened anyway. the part about R.Kelly is VERY true. I mean Outragous isn't lead material, I agree on that yet it's so catchy and addictive. But I doubt that the GP would've embraced the song. It's an amazing song but I don't think it's hit material. Most of In The Zone isn't hit material. In my opinion many tracks are on a fine line between a very commerical sound and having some quirks that make them stand out and be kind of timeless. 1
LaFuerza Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Wow, her voice has always been super weak and mediocre. No wonder she's always needed help from autotune or Myah Marie. 20
Erreur2 La Nature Posted September 22 Posted September 22 There are some good songs !!! Really enjoy Because I Like It and I Ain't Runnin Away !!! The only one I did not like is crazy girls
torontowest91 Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Wonder if Britney even knows about these songs.

I'm not sure how those singles did in the U.S but MATM was also a massive smash and I was between countries in that time. Even Eveytime was a smash hit. 2

Steve is the reason for the collab on Boom Boom, for some reason they thought Outrageous was single material and Toxic didn't fit the album. Shows how dumb they are I remember Steve Lunt telling how IGTBB came to be but I don't recall Britney opposing or anything. In fact, I think she was cool with it, according to him? But I agree it was probably more of a label thing. On 9/22/2024 at 10:57 AM, Harrys Hairflip said: How are they dated for the time? They sound like ashlee simpson tracks from that era The songs are very Gregg Alexander. I don't think they're that dated for the time but I can see her getting negative reactions for "jumping" on the sound and rather late. Songs like "You Get What You Give" and "Lovin' Each Day" were hits just years prior. Instant Deja Vu could've been her Murder On the Dancefloor, tho! Edited September 24 by Jeremiah

Slap Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I've always been an Instanr Deja Vu stan. That song is a timeless classic and I would ******* die if she released it today - if she did it as duet with a powerhouse vocalist I think it would be truly iconic. Her vocals in it are divine. Because I like It and You Can't Stop What You Can't Stop are amazing, honestly it brings me back to that early Y2K Dawson's Creek/Friends vibe and is very You Get What You Give coded.

Taste if true because Boom Boom is by far the worst thing on the album.

Thing is, the collab is what makes it bad. If it was solo, I've always thought it would've been single material.

Buffy Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Because I Like It sounds more like something Jessica Simpson would sing. I bet the chorus would sound better with strong belts too. It's giving Think I'm In Love/Jessica.
