It's not like she don't like Outrageous, it was more she didn't want the song to be the lead single as the label wanted.

Yeah, she was probably fine with it but Jive was pushing. Not for nothing there's a conspiracy she consciously sabotaged it with the knee injury

What's up with the downvotes on the OP? What's there to dislike? :rip:

Forgot to mention: all songs written by Rick Nowels and Gregg Alexander. Britney co-wrote on "I Ain't Runnin' Away", "Crazy Girls" and "You Can't Stop What You Can't Stop".

These songs were being heavily passed around and some people who had access to them are upset they leaked.

EDIT: Actually after looking at who disliked it they're just OBHs :skull:

Ooooh a new EP (ish). Because I Like It and You Can't Stop What You Can't Stop are really cute, especially the former. The latter is so early 2000s in a Lorde's Mood Ring kinda way and I love that.

"Because I Like It" would fit right in 05-07 pop rock. It's so good.

At this point her unreleased catalog is bigger than what's been put out. Nasty work, Britney. She in her house spinning in dresses on Instagram when she could be releasing unreleased material to tide us over while she's on retirement strike lol

Retirement strike? I like that.

Well she recorded it in 2003 so once again she was ahead of her time.:gaycat1:

Crazy girls and I ain't running are ok.

So I got a teen pop since you've been gone with because i like it.

The other two are cute.

I agree with others who say this doesn't fit the sound of ITZ but this was probably early on and sounds change so much before it goes final.

NGL, happy to hear them but I'm glad ITZ's sound wasn't in this direction. Still bubblegum pop with a little rock and experimental flare but the only songs I would trade are take out Outrageous and add I've Just begun having my fun and And then we kiss

Has Sugarfall ever leaked in hq? I've been listening to the potato version for 15 years now and I would very much appreciate an upgrade :allears:

Why this assumption that ITZ is not Britney's vision? Are we forgetting she stood her foot against the label to put out MATM and Toxic? And the amount of times she's praised album tracks like BOM, Early Mornin', TOMH, The Hook Up...?

She didn't want Yin Yang Twins or Outrageous on the album, I think those are the only things Britney didn't have a say in. Steve is the reason for the collab on Boom Boom, for some reason they thought Outrageous was single material and Toxic didn't fit the album. Shows how dumb they are

This is actually an earlier mix that's just in better quality, the original leak was the final mix in crappy quality

Dear lord I had forgotten the feeling of hearing new Britney :jonny5:

There's something about her voice and delivery that's so hard wired into my entire being that noone but her can create :jonny3:

All these Britney leaks this year, and yet I still can't get anything from the Oops! Or Britney (2001) album to leak. How unfortunate.

Either way, happy to have a unreleased Britney song release. They are all cute tracks but most of them sound very Mandy Moore coded circa 2001.

Crazy Girls is the one, I love the vibe! The rest sound more Britney (2001)/Brave New Girl coded to me.

Instant Dejavu Rap Version is cute

She has so many great songs from the In The Zone era to choose from why did she choose Brave New Girl? I'd rather listen to Manjobi

That's pop blasphemy girl don't go down that lane please.

I'm legitimately sad :dancehall3: because those songs sound amazing. And to think they'd leaked without her and the producers/writers behind them won't benefit a dime from such great content while we have literal garbage of "songs" out by other artists. What a waste.

It's also sad that it confirms she'd truly lost her passion for music for her not to feel obligated to go back and re release some of these songs and slab a cover onto them and call it an album, I mean I can see why those cuts didn't work for in the zone, but nostalgia is in full throttle at the moment. Deja by and the first songs sound amazing. Imagine them be re mixed and re worked NOW.

Don't come for me, but sometimes I wish Larry or one of her old management was still around. Larry would've moved his ass and called her, then re worked these and convinced her to put an album out without moving an inch.

these songs are so cute

I'm really hoping that one day we get to hear Bring Me Home and Baby Can't You See tho, from the Britney era. Since she was so proud of those tracks

Posted

But the bottom line is I don't even use it
Right when you become a *****, that's when you lose it
So what if I do? What if I lose it all today?
I've always got my fans (friends?) to hold me all the way
Happiness is the key, and love when you fall
Like Lauryn Hill said, "if you ain't got that, got nothing at all, y'all"

Because I Like It and obviously Instant Deja Vu are bops and half, but I can see why they (or whole these sessions) were ultimately scrapped. They just aren't what In the Zone became in the end. They are very poppy, almost outdated, even for 2003/04. They simply don't represent the maturity that was needed (and achieved) by Britney during that era.

Those were probably early sessions right after 'Britney' was released.

How are they dated for the time? They sound like ashlee simpson tracks from that era

Edit: I could see her releasing an EP with this sound late 2002/early 2003 tbh, it would eat

I love Brave New Girl too. If Britney had total control over the tracklist I love every decision she made.

Brave New Girl verses > chorus. Too overproduced.

Outrageous is like the one label requirement (maybe IGTBB too :-x). But it's clear that the rest/most of the album is Britney's vision and most likely her favorite work

Yes, Jive tacked Outrageous and Boom boom on the album as ITZ was  not only a departure from her teen pop sound but what against the trend.

In 2002-2003, pop stars either overtanned their body or changed their accent to sound more "urban"

Originally, Jive wanted Outrageous to lead the album.

Is it a bad song? No.

Does it cover the direction she was headed in personally? Yes.

Did it follow a trend? Yes, which is why Britney didn't want it.

Britney used Madonna as a means to release Me against the music which captured the underground trend and went against the grain of urban pop music.

R. Kelly raised a big issue and publicly criticized Britney for not going with his song.

Me against the music underperformed.

Then, at one point, Jive put out Outrageous AND boom boom to urban radio aiming to push either if they took off. They did not. They did get into the top 60 on urban and got 100s of spins, though.

Then Jive wanted to follow the Cry me a river stunt after Like I love you (MATM) underperformed. Britney wasn't ready.

Then they wanted to push Breathe on me for controversy and Britney was adamant that Toxic ends up the next single or she'd stop promotion.

Jive not believing in Toxic release it to radio in late December during the worst time ever BUT Toxic was such a smash that it defied expectations and smashed.

I would have paid money for Outrageous to be swapped for I've just begun having my fun and GHMP would have MP, Outrageous and Do Something

I would have paid money for And then we kiss to serve as the track after Breathe on may and remove that alarm clock painful MATM remix at the end. At least MATM justice remix made a mid song sound great.
