I haven't spent months trolling on the Katy album thread like you have done on Dua's, but whatever :gaycat5:

I havent mentioned Dua since RO exited the charts three months ago.

Katy, well… the flopping was seen since WW.

A 6k drop since Smile isn't that bad, hope it debuts 6 or 7!

This thread is hilarious tbh.

one second it's: "oh Katy has been a flop since almost a decade now, she's gonna flop so hard!!!! This album is DOA!!!"

and when the numbers come out and the pure sales are actually on par with her last album first week, it's: "omg how??? She's supposed to be doing way moreee!!!!" despite all the hate train and dogpiling from the media and the internet from the moment the first single was announced.

haters and their mental gymnastics lmao

Are you surprised she managed to sell the same amount of copies as her last album? At the end of the day that only proves two things:
- She has a big fan base.

- Her fan base is loyal and still support her.

The weeks ahead are the ones who really show what the GP thinks about it.

So we'll see if she stays stable or drops down.

44k is better than what I expected so... congrats (?) :clap3:

Yes I'm actually very surprised she still sold the same amount because:

1. Smile didn't have a hate train from every corner of the internet and the critics and publications alike that we saw for 143. She was in a way more favorable position both in terms of music and her image around her pregnancy. There were actually people directly saying they're boycotting this album this time because she worked with Luke, parts of her own fanbase.

2. people have been saying she is "over" since 2017 and with every subsequent release, they keep reiterating their words that she's "falling even further". So by that logic, she should have been nowhere near Smile's numbers since she doesn't even have a hit this time around and not a single favorable review for any songs she released before the album, whereas NRO, Harleys and Daisies were all favorably reviewed and that helped her for the album.

i could go on but you should get it.

so sad that chappell is missing the #1 by such a weak margin. ugh. the album going #1 one year after its release would've been iconic.

I will remind you of this post later.

And stop trolling, obviously this is going to drop next week as it has no radio or spotify support to keep it afloat.

Also I am screaming at the narrative now switching to " she has a big and loyal fanbase" when haters have been claiming for months that Katy never had a fanbase to begin with.

Choose a narrative !

They have also claimed many times that Katy never had a fan base.

Now she suddenly has a big and loyal one.

The constant switching of the goalposts is too much.

Lets be real, haters were secretly hoping for JLO numbers and missing the top 10 but instead of just admitting that 44k is actually not bad at all, they now backtracking and trying to change the original narratives to cope, and are deflecting to WeEk TwO. Sad but rather predictable !!

I've never changed my narrative, stop with that nonsense argument lol

I am not delusional to say she hasn't one of the strongest fan bases out there, that's why she's selling albums, that's a fact. People don't care about her new material, that's another fact.

Let's wait for it to drop then lol

Smile did 50k so why would anyone expect her to do more than that? This is pretty much expected numbers

Miranda departing from the top 50 in the seconding week after debuting at #20… :rip:

this is what happens when you have the right material to smash, but release the same regurgitated single formula again and again. Oh well, at least we have quality….

Yeah the switching of goalposts for Katy by her naysayers has been very transparent, and they think that people are too dumb to notice it. Katy has never had a big fanbase, she's always been a gp girl. This time we're just surprised that whatever small loyal fans that she has never left after Smile era despite all the disastrous decisions this era.
