Wow. What happened? The album is not bad at all.  Was it overexposure from her last era?

I felt like she took a break so I'm not sure what is going on but she can come back in her next era if she figures out what went wrong here.

Dua is so faceless that we don't even care to drag her for her flop. Look at Katy, shes dragged for basically breathing. Imagine if this was any other pop girl era, the mess that this site or stan twitter would be

How are you going to blatantly say she's faceless when she's literally selling out every show she's announced since 2020, like, that drag was cute in 2016 but you've got to keep up with the times, she's one of the best pop girls we have right now.

I'm a Dua stan and I think she deserved this outcome. Houdini and Training Season are amazing pop songs, but this era felt completely uneventful. She had Glasto and sold out Wembley, but what's memorable except for that?! I actually love the album, but she barely lifted a finger for it. Her father's management is terrible and the dead silence after Illusion is aggravating. I hope she climbs down from the throne she put herself on thinking that every song she releases would be a DSN or Levitating kinda hit based on gimmicks. She needs to put on some real work.

It doesn't take much to be #200. To not even achieve that merely 4 months into release is a colossal failure I- :deadbanana2:

The way I streamed it in FULL last night. Then put Houdini on repeat. Where's my cheque Duka? We're financing your vacations.

It's not a bad album but the promo and the era feel quite boring, she should have done more smart promotion. I feel like she gave up with this. it deserves better.

She needs to fire her father and he should be tried for his crimes against pop music.

The fact that she had a solid hit with Dance The Night just before the era. One of the fastest downfalls in MPG history.

I feel bad because she gave us bops upon bops

I feel like this proves how desperation doesn't work. They were so desperate for a hit they just kept releasing single after single. They've should've waited for Houdini to do its magic. The rollout is the main reason why it tanked

At least Dua is dealing with a silent, 'boring' underperformance, which is the easiest to recover from if she plays her cards right. I wish she would risk one final single, but she should have taken advantage of the Glastonbury exposure for that. Now it's sadly too late.

Real shame the album didn't resonate at all with the general public. The quality and potential are there. Instead, it ended up being a major case study on the importance of marketing, setting up the right expectations, and how changing one's promotional approach can completely compromise an album's performance. The fact "Houdini" got zero live performances prior to the Grammys was unforgivable - even more so when compared to the phenomenal promo run "Don't Start Now" got.

In my view, she should invest on some strong features for the rest of the year. I'm thinking something with Chase & Status for the UK, another feature with a francophone act (given France was one of the only countries to make RO a success), and maybe a remix for one of the many rising hits stateside. I see the vision of a cool Dua Lipa feature on Sabrina's "Good Graces", maybe something with Charli XCX, or bringing out her R&B side again by working with Tommy Richman (her on "MILLION DOLLAR BABY" or "DEVIL IS A LIE" has potential to be brilliant 👀).

Then, she should ideally take a page from Justin Bieber's book and begin the rollout for her "Justice" equivalent sometime in 2025, where I suspect there might be a drought following the beyond eventful 2024. I know some might prefer her giving a "Future Nostalgia" 2.0, but I think it would be much better for Dua to explore something different and unexpected. In light of the aforementioned features, I would love to see her playing with UK Garage, drum n' bass, and some late 90s-early 00s R&B vibes (Miami Bass, the early experimental Timbaland/Missy sound with Aaliyah, Craig David's UK Garage-tinged R&B). Working with Kenya Grace, maybe even PinkPantheress on production. Featuring another k-pop act on one of the singles would be pretty cool too, since many are also inspired by these subgenres.

Just throwing some ideas here. But overall I'd say people should stop underestimating Dua Lipa. She can bounce back from this.

It's a shame because she had a great opportunity with this album. Idk why she changed his management company and the album's visuals from psychedelic to shark. u.u

RO lacks energy and dua doesnt want the desire to be on top of the world this time, seems that she just want to be on vacations and chill.  The music is good but it doesn't have that spark that FN had. Houdini, these walls and falling forever are excellent btw.

Didnt she film a new video?

She wants to rush towards her Erotica 'Maverick' era where she takes total reigns over her career without realising that she's not in a stage where she's able to do that yet without consequences :deadbanana2: she treated Future Nostalgia as 2 albums basically because of the length of the era but the truth is her third album needed to be another carefully planned, well executed blockbuster album with a different sound.

This is exactly why I say that artists shouldn't have too much freedom in the beginning of their career. With pop you have to play the game and earn it.

To be honest, Illusion should've never been a single. Houdini was great. It was a fantastic lead single that barely got promoted upon release except for the Grammy's performance. To believe she put more effort into promoting FN during a lockdown gives you everything you need to know. Dance The Night obviously did tremendously well but yeah, the album was dead on arrival after she embarked on a summer tour days after the album release.

There's absolutely no excuse whatsoever to not have released either These Walls or Falling Forever back in June/July

Well Dua didn't collab with a rapist for one. The music was nowhere near as cringe as Katy's and she didn't embarrass herself every time she opened her mouth unlike Ms Perry

Hopefully this scares her & her label into releasing DL4 soon. Her MPG status in the US depends on it.

This is reminding me of Kylie Minogue's US trajectory, although Dua already has way more hits in the US. But she needs to move on QUICKLY.

It's sad that she spent so much time on it, and boasted about it having 97 songs. Sweep it under the rug and have DL4's lead ready for Q1.

And stop with all this blogging/podcast sh*t. No one cares about what a Romanian psychologist has to say about deep sleep. And if they do, they're not looking for it via the girl who's always singing about not taking your ex back.

Houdini should've been released in January, Training season at the same time as the album (February-March) then illusion during summer.
She waited too long and houdini had a lackluster reception.

Congrats to miss Dua for being the real Paula Abdul of the 20s after Katy perry took the crown in the 10s.

The album was so good so it's sad tbh. You can say whatever but honestly think the single choices were horrible.

She had a hit in 2023 with DTN so she could've chosen Training Season or Watcha Doing with a GOOD music video with storyline at least and it would've gone top 10.

Then, with the correct promotion and performances she would've built some hype.

I also think that the red hair was a miss and that she should've never sold us the album as "psycholedic" lol. There was literally like 1 song with that style.

No psychedelic bops no chart success.

Just move on from this album and return early next year with better material.

What's more to try? She made a couple of performance and released 3 singles with videos more than most MPGs would do. I think she handled the era well but it was not meant to bring major success.
