A question for the older gays

When Britney Jean came out in 2013, was there some sort of collective shock at the vocals on "Passenger" not even -remotely- being Britney? :deadbanana4:

Im listening to the album right now and, I know we all know about Myah Marie now but I wasn't old enough to have followed pop culture when this album first released. Was it known beforehand that the vocals weren't all Britney or was everyone surprised when the album dropped?

Britney Jean wasn't that old sis, It's not like you're talking about her debut :biblionny: but I think people knew it when it was released

I am in a nursing home so I remember people commenting on that when the album came out

When Britney Jean came out I must admit I was past the age of 9, so I think I'm more than qualified to answer this loaded question.

In short: yes. We knew sth was effed the eff up but couldn't exactly point directly at it. I can't remember how the truth unfolded but we were moreso appalled at the fact that they thought we wouldn't notice.

Not me expecting something I wouldn't have any knowledge of when I saw "older gays"

But yes everyone knew from the release that the vocals on the album didn't sound like Britney

So you were already in your teens when BJ dropped. You have no excuse for not learning about general ATRL culture :bam:

Yes, the initial reactions were all about how the song is decent but a bunch of people could tell it was Myah Marie and not actually Britney.  The fraudulent vocals were one of the main points of the discussion with the album's disastrous release. The album was panned immediately upon release. The ONLY thing people kinda loved that entire era in real time was Work ***** but I wouldn't say that song was acclaimed or universally praised by any means lol.

Thank you for the genuine answer!

The first Britney memories I have here on ATRL were Glory era. Specifically the Private Show vocal post :dies: So it's nice to learn something I wasn't here for
