PoisonedIvy Posted August 24 Posted August 24 (edited) When Britney Jean came out in 2013, was there some sort of collective shock at the vocals on "Passenger" not even -remotely- being Britney? Im listening to the album right now and, I know we all know about Myah Marie now but I wasn't old enough to have followed pop culture when this album first released. Was it known beforehand that the vocals weren't all Britney or was everyone surprised when the album dropped? Edited August 24 by PoisonedIvy 11

We didn't really listen much to that tragedy of an album, we all moved on pretty quickly Now if you'll excuse me, it's almost 4PM so it's my bed time. Good night. Edited August 24 by getBusy 20
MerveAksak Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Britney Jean wasn't that old sis, It's not like you're talking about her debut but I think people knew it when it was released
tost1 Posted August 24 Posted August 24 I am in a nursing home so I remember people commenting on that when the album came out 14
dumbsparce Posted August 24 Posted August 24 (edited) When Britney Jean came out I must admit I was past the age of 9, so I think I'm more than qualified to answer this loaded question. In short: yes. We knew sth was effed the eff up but couldn't exactly point directly at it. I can't remember how the truth unfolded but we were moreso appalled at the fact that they thought we wouldn't notice. Edited August 24 by dumbsparce 6 2
Nightingale Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Not me expecting something I wouldn't have any knowledge of when I saw "older gays" But yes everyone knew from the release that the vocals on the album didn't sound like Britney

Kayseri Mantisi Posted August 24 Posted August 24 since the question is directed at older gays, i'm not able to answer this 7 1

KatyPrismSpirit Posted August 24 Posted August 24 i hope the gays from Pangea who have 000.000.001 as their social security number could answer this question for you
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Yes, the initial reactions were all about how the song is decent but a bunch of people could tell it was Myah Marie and not actually Britney. The fraudulent vocals were one of the main points of the discussion with the album's disastrous release. The album was panned immediately upon release. The ONLY thing people kinda loved that entire era in real time was Work ***** but I wouldn't say that song was acclaimed or universally praised by any means lol. 1 1 1

The first Britney memories I have here on ATRL were Glory era. Specifically the Private Show vocal post So it's nice to learn something I wasn't here for
