KatyPrismSpirit Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I wonder how Billboard / Nielsen even manage to track the data of those website sales properly

fridayteenage Posted September 2 Posted September 2 so on Friday they said "no numbers today." didn't realize that meant none on Saturday, and none on Sunday.
ReneighIsHere Posted September 2 Posted September 2 is this the first time HHD delays the update for this long? even during the queen vs astroworld week they posted the numbers on friday. It's clear that the labels are fighting behind the scenes and i guess they want to stay out of it till they settle it with billboard..
popmusic Posted September 2 Posted September 2 They said numbers should be around 9 a.m. ET.. At 8.30 they change the message to 'data will be delayed' lol 2 2

fridayteenage Posted September 2 Posted September 2 If he's doing all this for days before rodeo, I wonder if he'll release a bunch of deluxe versions next year for the 10 year anniversary of Rodeo... 1
pride4jc1222 Posted September 2 Posted September 2 BS like this is why I don't get excited for the US chart reveals anymore. By the time the charts are out, it feels like old news as half or even more of the following tracking week is already done and the charts of other countries have been revealed days earlier. I wouldn't mind if the tracking week is moved to Monday-Sunday, if it means a universal chart reveal day Monday. There's no reason why the US charts should be revealed days after the rest of the world.

Billboard uses full week data. UK OCC for example publishes their charts with Thursday data missing for streaming, sometimes even for Wednesday. You can complete full charts on Saturday evening earliest since YouTube takes 2 days to generate their daily reports. And since charting week is from Friday-Thursday, Monday is the first day when you can publish charts. There's a question if the global release day should be moved from Friday but this is another story. 1
scottstreet Posted September 2 Posted September 2 @popmusic at the end of the day, who do you think is getting that #1?

Charts should be revealed as close to the tracking period end. Putting estimates for Thursday and even Wednesday would make it harder to game the charts. Plus, random increases on Wednesday and Thursday is a sign of fraud. Pretty funny how the delays in chart reveals started when streaming/sales tracking period was moved to Friday-Thursday and only increased when radio went the same way. Pre-July 2015, when the tracking period was Wednesday-Tuesday, the charts were revealed the day after the tracking period ended (Wednesday) with no fail.

Basically there's no way to manipulate streaming data nowdays*. You can report fraud digital or physical sales but streaming services have many ways to spot fraud streams. Spoiler * We don't talk about TIDAL but since they changed owner they much more transparent.
