Jimin #2 on US Spotify, not charting in any cities, only #24 on BB streaming. How?

His fanbase uses VPN.
Same goes on Spotify Korea and Japan he is topping there but doesn't charts on major cities and neither domestic charts.

Why do they care so much about getting him to chart in America when most Americans don't even speak Korean though? It seems like such a pointless exercise :jonnycat:

I feel like if you went to any American college and showed students a photo of him, none of them would know who he is. If you asked "who is Jimin?" none of them would be able to tell you. If you played them his song, they'd say "oh, I don't listen to K-pop, sorry" and if you asked them why, they'd say "…because I have no idea what he's saying."

It just seems like a lot of effort to rig a market that, ultimately, is never going to care. What good are these numbers if no one in the country actually knows who you are, what you sing, or what you're even singing about?

I can't believe Spotify allows this blatant corruption eww

It is known that BTS songs are almost completely botted on Spotify in Western countries. Check out Apple Music for more realistic figures for his song. That's right, N/A in the US top 200!

This is ridiculous. This is why Apple Music will always be the better streaming service.

It was a rural release

the fact that spotify allows this is crazy

Why am I just finding out streams can be manipulated so easily? How are streams thru VPNs not filtered? :deadbanana:

The success is plastic and fake just like his music

I'm not sure why these discussions arise whenever a K-pop group nears the top of the charts :rip:

Clearly, much of their success comes from an extremely devoted fanbase - one that will stream and buy anything their favourite artists release, no matter what. Their fans are so committed that even a track of them farting  would likely outsell everyone but Taylor Swift. Rather than questioning this success, Western music labels should focus on how to build a similarly passionate fanbase for their own artists.

Spotify needs to stop allowing this fraudulence to happen. It cheapens their service (even more than it already is).

They are very strict with small artists and cancel their accounts

Even if an outside source sends the streams :rip:

But with huge label artists they can bot them all they want

Reminds me of the Leftovermax situation of botted streams (and allegedly Artemas too), and Spotify just removed it because it was some random khia

Spotify loves Artemas, maybe even obsessed. They're always posting about I Like the Way You Kiss Me's streaming stats almost every single day on Twitter.

But tye fact he's not charting in any city is indeed weird :rip:

Imagine a pop girl doing this. The threads would be endless

now wait because how is he completely N/A of the entire top 100 in korean domestic charts yet magically #1 on spotify korea with an enormous 235K streams (while the other songs have only a few thousands streams due to spotify's small user base in korea)???? this is a case for the fbi :biblio:

no, that's clearly chart manipulation of some sort because he's getting 200k~300k daily streams on spotify korea despite the user base being 600k and domestic fans would rather stream on melon where he's OUT of the top 100… weird

Is it only happening on Spotify or Apple Music too?
