I was hoping there were any R&B-pop leaning tracks like What It Is, Persuasive, Girls Night Out or even Sunday's Best... but no. Maybe Slide and Beverly Hills.

I'll wait to hear the album in full.

There is 'Wait' on the album

It sounds like the obvious follow-up to 'What It Is' and she should have released as a single IMO

I hate Boom Bap but have enjoyed most of her droplets this year so I'm def checking this entire mixtape out!

I'm SO GLAD she got a new body of work out, I'm about to listen!

NISSAN ALTIMA remains THAT girl.

This is incredible whew

I also feel like it's probably better than what her album would have been had it dropped last year, it seems like the label had their in that version heavy.

Sundays Best is my fave from the sessions. It shows another side of her.

I think that's the best track. It seems she wants to proof she's a real rapper which sounds like a mistake to me. There's too many female rappers right now and she might get lost among all of them.

This is incredible. She's so ******* talented and I'm glad this isn't filled with WII-lite tracks.

She's easily one of the most talented rap girls right now.

The first 8 or so tracks on here is one of the best runs in a long time from any release :WAP:

I'm glad a female rapper isn't back relying on Pop n' B tracks which just hurts them with Rap listeners.

This my favorite project from her. TDE artist development is A1. I pray there's a ScHoolboy Q feature on the album cause they'd snap on a record. :jonny6:

She had it all on here, a whole lot of Northeast 90s Rap influence in the first half of the album too. :clap3:One of the best Rap projects of the year. She showed she can be a storyteller and give you bars.

when i tell you i have chills… i've waited so long for a full length project im so pleased and happy rn. she rly showed all her strengths, i don't dislike a single song GOD this is a great project

So this is AOTY :clap3:

I'm very happy that she was able to put this project out, as it seems this is really who Doechii is and wants to be as an artist. :clap3:The Yucky Blucky Fruitcake callback on DENIAL IS A RIVER actually gagged me, as that was the Doechii I have been rooting for since 2020! Her being so transparent and open with her overall situation these past couple years was also shocking to me, like if she never mentioned it I highly doubt we would've ever known... I hope she's in a better place now mentally. :heart2:

I'm glad she dropped the What It Is, Booty Drop etc. hit-chasing identity crisis schtick she was doing last year for the meantime, although she can clearly sell it when she wants to, you can just tell it wasn't her. I hope she keeps the uptempos for the debut album, which i'm sure will be a label compromised melting pot of different sounds ala Joyride. Clearly she's fighting for her artistry and it's good that this project came out first. It didn't really make sense initially for her to drop a mixtape after all this time but listening to the project front to back, it makes sense. She's everything!

Halfway in and she is KILLING the actual rap scene, wow.

I don't get the What It Is hate. It's her most streamed song, her highest charting single and the track that put her on the gp radar. Besides, I think it's a good song. I don't like when people discredict pop. If it were so easy to get a pop hit then pop girls wouldn't flop so frequently.

im a truly shocked at the quality of this project. this is phenomenal!

The narrative, the rap, the lyrics. wow!

its has the vibe of early Jean Grae albums. so amazing!

It's... fine. Nothing really stood out to me on first listen. The production is very very lowkey and just came off as boring to me. She's a great rapper but I feel this is way too bloated and same-y. :noparty:

Do people love to hate on it or is it just me fff I think most people liked it and it clearly resonated somewhat. There's a lot of mixed emotions about an underground artist attempting to go mainstream regardless, and this particular example had the hook lifted from a lesser-known artist and shopped to doechii, and then they decided to put a kodak black feature on it... and then get a challenge going on TikTok? It reeks of "this song was meticulously crafted to be become a hit!!" which sucks the fun out of it quickly, especially when her amazing material doesn't get the same level of promotion and exposure. Does Doechii even like the song? She quite literally addresses her feelings about being a "TikTok rapper" on the tape fff :fonso: Not to say it's not a catchy song but there's a lot of people that can release a What It Is, and not a lot of people that can release a NISSAN ALTIMA which is ultimately her point.

She can rap better than all of them tho. If anyone should be rapping its her.

10/10 project. Doubling down on her convictions and we love to see it

I don't know if she can rap better. I'm not a rap expert but I know she's way more versatile than any of them. She has a different flow on every track whilst the other girls sound the same. AND she can sing too.

Neither of these can really be used in regards to the quality though. It's great that it gave her some exposure though.

For me it has nothing to do with it being Pop/R&B. Doechii has a tonne of great Pop/R&B songs that are much more interesting and have more personality than WII.
