He was named artist of the decade (2010s) Hes has 8 #1 albums (13 #1 albums with his EP and Collab albums) He also has the second most #1 songs this century (13 #1s) only after Rihanna He has hundreds of Hot100 entries and 78 Top10s. We will be lucky if he is not #1 overall tbh. 1 1

exfactor003 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) to act for a second as if Drake hasn't tremendously influenced the current landscape of r&b is thoroughly delusional. Edited November 8 by exfactor003 1 1

He does not have iconic performances, and music videos, etc… he's not more impactful than Gaga and Britney. Here's BB's criteria for this list: Greatest Pop Stars are NOT mathematically determined by stats like chart position, streams or sales numbers. Those play a big part in our final rankings, of course — you can't be one of the greatest pop stars of the century without great pop hits and great pop albums — but so do things like music videos, live performances and social media presence, and more intangible factors like cultural importance, industry influence and overall omnipresence. (And we're measuring this over all 25 years of this century so far, so if you were only heard from at the beginning or the end of that period — or only had one or two big songs, albums or eras — that's gonna significantly hinder your ranking here as well.) Drake is not better than Gaga and Britney in bolded part.

Thanks for sharing this. Just tuned into this Billboard list thingy. From my understanding of their criteria, I see Bey at #1, Taylor at #2, Riri at #3 and Drake at #4 I think some things put Bey over the others in this list (based on their description). Her music videos, live performances, cultural impact and weight. And most importantly the fact that she's been a considerable force in all the criteria (including charts and acclaim) for the entirety of the 21st century. Literally from 2000 to today. The others loose points in that aspect as they enter towards the end of the 00s decade. Just my reading tho cuz I'm biased as a bey fan as well. Edited November 7 by Calypso 6

slw84 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Ok now it's gotta be #1 Taylor #2 Beyonce #3 Rihanna #4 Drake if Drake made it top 4. I can see an argument for Rihanna and Drake moving up on down but I can't see an argument for Taylor being #2 now with these four acts left.

If they place Drake above RIh when she gave him his first 2 #1 hits... Well, Britney is below three artists who took some sort of influence from her and two were much more based on songs catapulting them to superstardom or "replacement" for this current generation. Rihanna deserves to be above Drake for sure, though. Drake reshaped the 2010s sound of hip hop, r&b (not saying it was better) and fused it into mainstream. He doesn't deserve to be above Britney or Bieber but his top 10 placement makes sense. His top 5 placement is a trip, though.
Kahlo Posted November 8 Posted November 8 what a horrible list. growing up in the 00s/10s has left people with no taste.
GreatestLoveofAll Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Idk how i feel about the Gaga placement cause on one hand Drake is ahead of her and he didnt nearly have the level of all encompassing fame anytime in his reign that Gaga did. Almost no one did. But i think BB is leaning heavier on commerical appeal and consistency for these list which makes sense but... well to anyone seeing Drake in the midst of all those pop girls is just weird. he could very well switched with Britney but whatever. my predictions for the top 4 Taylor Beyonce (should be switched but like i said commercial success is their number one factor so) Drake Rihanna (should be top 3 but Drake has more hits than her now so)
John Slayne Posted November 10 Posted November 10 if we're going by chart success Drake is definitely above Rihanna he's still the most streamed person ever on Spotify, as much as swifties claim Taylor Swift's popularity is 'unprecedented' she is still lagging behind Drake and will probably take a few more years to catch up with him.
NEUTRON Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Gaga deserves her spot. Her come up was absolutely INSANE to watch in real time. Top 4 Predictions 1. Beyonce - only person to dominate all 24 years 2. Taylor - Mrs. Music Industry 3. Drake - Mr. Music Industry 4. Rihanna - she didn't take a break she took a broke *in my MC Debra voice* 1

Drake is not better than Gaga and Britney in bolded part. Please, I would argue he is I understand y'all don't like Rap, but considering it's the biggest genre in the country and Drake has played a tremendous role in that, coupled with his extended influence in another genre (r&b) he has just as much right to rank this high as anyone else He's not just a numbers guy. There were Drake clones ever since his debut. Bryson Tiller who has arguably the biggest R&B song of the 2010s owes his entire career, sound and image to Drake. There was a notorious TEN year period where Drake lyrics was everyones IG captions there's articles about it. But, all of his impact and influence is also an extension of Kanye West' impact and influence, so he should've been in the top 5 but he's a horrible person with the worst image rn so it makes sense he got shuffled down for Aubrey
longjohn9898 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Gaga should be #1 or #2 but other artists have released quantity without quality and Billboard has to factor that in as releasing frequently throughout the decade it is considering for its ranking 1 3
