Klein Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago "In a way, Swift has always been like pop's most curious tourist, never quite feeling like she'd always belonged there, more so trying on the things she liked best about the territory and sticking to her own guns for the rest. Instead of coming up and thriving naturally within the bounds of what we understand pop to be then and now, she rewrote the genre in her own image and, in doing so, charted a new course for crossover success that countless other confessional singer-songwriters like Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe Bridgers, Gracie Abrams have since benefitted from." The article is mostly amazing, and this quote in particular is very good, and how I feel about Taylor not being your traditional popstar. 7

Taylor Swift is famous because she is a pop star. She has moved more music than any artist who debuted after 1990. She has the highest grossing tour in history and the only entertainer to ever win Time's Person of the Year. Beyonce is exceptional. If there was anyone to lose this to it would be her. But this is also just a random subjective editorial list. If different writers had been given the task the list would look completely different all the way down. Taylor's achievements are written in the stone of actual records and she will easily end with the most impressive career of the 21st century. Edited 5 hours ago by DevilsRollTheDice 2
Green Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I'm shook But great to see Bey at #1. The only one from the list with a #1 song in 2000 (Say My Name/Independent Women Part I) and a #1 in 2024 (Texas Hold em) 5 5
TROPICUM Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago i would honestly say these two (beyoncé and taylor) are thee top 2 of… literally the entire industry male or female and both are successful women! let's celebrate THAT 5

Because in the first article about this list Billboard themselves said that charts wouldn't be the sole determining factor. I love Taylor myself, but the fact swifties are only bringing up sales as a justification to why she should be #1 already goes to show why she is #2. Edited 5 hours ago by gustavothehuman 13 1
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted 5 hours ago ATRL Moderator Posted 5 hours ago We are lucky to be living at a time where we have artists like Taylor and Beyonce dominating. Congrats to both ladies 1
Taylena Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Get those clicks and engagement, Billboard. We know otherwise nobody would talk about this. 2 7

Paving the way for Disgracie Abrams is not something good, this is why Beyoncé blocked her Spoiler Phoebe and Olivia are great though! Edited 5 hours ago by gustavothehuman 7 3
getBusy Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago My fave is #3 but the meltdowns here are making me feel like I won anyway

They have been getting engagement pretty much ever since they started the list. They're about to get even more engagement now because some pressed stans are going to be butt hurt over a #2 placement on a simple list but then you can't really blame them for that.

gustavothehuman Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Anyway, I'm happy with the Top 2 regardless of who's leading the list, both Taylor and Beyoncé deserved the honor. The real atrocity here is including Maroon 5 but not Coldplay Edited 5 hours ago by gustavothehuman 2

abelfenty Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Beyoncé deserves this. Her name alone just exudes star power 5
Mikeymoonshine Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Does this really matter that much to you guys? Beyonce deserves her spot but if Taylor had gotten it she would have deserved it too. There's so many different ways to compare them and it doesn't really even matter ultimately. 3
ariesgroove Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago i really like the articles that have accompanied each artist as they were ranked, you can tell billboard's really putting in effort in this lists, wish they did that for their consistently terrible album rankings but

Other than them not placing Kanye a bit higher than he ought to be, this was good and they knew how to draw it out for long and mine all the engagement they could. should've replaced drake with kanye tbh
