Billboard's Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century | #1 Beyoncé

If You think REALLY deep about it it makes perfect sense for it to be Beyoncé but Taylor has been so massive for so many years already and since everyone licks her butt these days I really thought she (Tay) had it locked.

Beyoncé didn't even deserve a top 5, sorry.

Her impact and success in the world is even smaller than Justin Bieber or Ariana.

I love Ari but bringing up her name is just proof you are on some bullshit. The racial bias always pop up every time

The whole list aside, "something completely different" when you can clearly see the issue, yet trying to minimize it is disgusting, therefore stfu and stop embarrassing yourself, it's been 3 years…

Huh? Ok..

Shocker!

Beyonce deserves to be number one. Taylor's fans keep using numbers as their only reason she should be number one, but Beyonce has outdone her in virtually every other regard and in particular in talent and cultural impact.

I am saying this as a die-hard Swiftie (who also happened to be the OG Hater on this forum back in 2011).

Why are people shocked Taylor isn't #1? If we were going by the 'Biggest Pop Stars of the Last 5-Years' absolutely. Even the 'last 10-Years' I can see an argument being made.

However, we're going by since the turn of the century in 2000. Beyonce has consistently been the icon since 2000 whether she was part of DC or on her solo career. Even her 'flops' like '4' left cultural impacts.

If we're looking at Taylor, sure she was easily one of the top 10 performing artists from debut through to Red - but I'd argue she was never the 'biggest artist in the world' during any of these eras. She surged with '1989' but let's not act like aside the tour, 'reputation' made any significant impact. 'Lover' to 'Evermore' she surely regained her strength, and it set the foundation for the last 3-years where she's been unstoppable. But if we're looking at the entirety of the 21st century, you cannot dispute that Beyonce is the biggest superstar there is. :rip:

May that change in a decades time? Maybe. But as of now, you cannot really compare. Taylor may collapse next era, Beyonce may have another surge next era, who knows.

But for the love of God some of the Swifties on here taking this as an opportunity to spur personal insults towards Beyonce when Taylor is friends with her... like y'all know you are just looking like you belong in a daycare centre right?

Congrats Bey. I knew staning this long would pay off. :clap3:

If this list were most sucessful artist of the century then yes it would no question be T Swift. But this metric checked all boxes. Beyonce is now with the likes of Mj and Mozart. Taylor will be it on the next list!!!

Congrats to Beyoncé, and can't wait to listen to her podcast episode. A deserved #1 for her incredible career so far (and not in the sense that she's done with it, but in the sense that I think a lot more is still to come) :clap3:

Deserved, but I also hope the basement they run billboard from collapses just because they stretched this nonsense for 4 months.

But when you're talking about greatness, and when you're talking about greatness for the 21st century specifically, no one has a longer or fuller track record than Beyoncé. It is insanely impressive that Taylor has even made it a discussion after missing the whole first quarter of the period, but only Beyoncé has spent the entirety of the last 25 years exemplifying greatness in every form imaginable. With every album, every single, every music video, every live performance, every photo shoot and promo campaign and release strategy over the last quarter-century, she has pursued excellence thoroughly and relentlessly, and the number of times where she's notably fallen short in that pursuit doesn't even approach double digits. Her greatness is so wide-ranging and expansive that we just ranked the 100 moments this century that best display it, and we still had another 50-plus in reserve that it broke our hearts to have to leave on the cutting room floor. There's just no other artist this century – and maybe only a couple in the previous one – with a full 20-plus-year catalog of great moments like that.

Exactly, Billboard. :giraffe:
