Be careful she's even being spoken to in the same breath as someone like Beyoncé, 'cause there's a clear distinction between them. Beyoncé's greatness brought her sales and numbers, whereas Taylor's sales and numbers are what brought her greatness. Remember that. This needs to be quoted every page going forward 6 1

She has the hits, the album sales, huge grossing tours others wish about? Even beat out Beyonce. How is P!nk not in top 20 and miss me with delusional, she really deserves at least top 15. I mean this as respectfully as possible but Pink has been a non factor culturally for a loooong time. And that matters in the equation. She slays with touring. But commercially she has been declining for years at this point music wise. And the music also hasn't been giving in a long time from her either lbr. She never pushed her artistry forward instead she stayed in the same zone for years. Look at Beyoncé and put Pink next to her. It's insane how worlds apart they are to each other in relevance. But you wouldn't think that if you just saw their touring stats on paper. There's more to it imo. 2 1 1
narid Posted November 26 Posted November 26 (edited) Agree with Taylor and Bey in the top 2, but really surprised Taylor is not number 1. By charts and metrics alone she should be. Edited November 26 by narid 2
Shelter Posted November 26 Posted November 26 What's gross is how haters always degrade Beyonce's success. "She bought awards", "her husband paid" Like Beyonce hasn't worked hard all her life or isn't talented enough to be where she is. She is the only one spoken about like this. 14 1 1
DemDam92 Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Payola by Ms. Knowles yet again Taylor deserves #1 spot and I'm not even a fan. 4 11
RihannaLoverrr Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Excellent top 3. Beyoncé is absolutely deserving of the top spot too. Debuting in the 90s still going strong and competing with the new girls 1 2
BrokenMachine Posted November 26 Posted November 26 The meltdowns of certain people when Billboard was clear from the very first moment about what they were going to take into consideration for the ranking. Just stop playing the victim, enjoy the place your fave got, and leave in peace
piotrert Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Will the greatest pop star of this century by billboard™️ be able to chart at least one album on the billboard™️ chart after next week announcement? 3 5

In the own words of BB: Quote She's a touring legend with a deep catalog, but she's never strung enough huge hit songs and albums together in any one era to truly dominate the pop landscape. Or in other words, she never had this 'total domination' era in the US full of impact in cultute beyond the music. Miss and TTAL were huge, but it stayed in the music and werent the biggest eras of their respective times
Doogle Posted November 26 Posted November 26 1 hour ago, OhMyAlf said: Beyoncé being my favourite artist of all time and Taylor a very close second has made the last few years so enjoyable for me. No petty stan wars just enjoying the 2 greatest pop stars of our time The correct response It didn't matter what way round they were. They both had a strong case. 1

Those play a big part in our final rankings, of course, but so do things like music videos, live performances and social media presence, and more intangible factors like cultural importance, industry influence and overall omnipresence. (And we're measuring this over all 25 years of this century so far, so if you were only heard from at the beginning or the end of that period — or only had one or two big songs, albums or eras — that's gonna significantly hinder your ranking here as well.) People need to read this from the OP before going into endless rants and meltdowns 3

Beyoncé's greatness brought her sales and numbers, whereas Taylor's sales and numbers are what brought her greatness. Remember that. Period. Another way I look at it is - if Beyonce was #2, the Hive would definitely (and rightfully) be flooding our timelines with Beychella vids, Renaissance tour performances, music videos, etc. Taylor at #2 is flooding our timelines with stats. If the stans themselves can't use Taylor's songs, videos, performances (you know... her actual art) as justification for why she should be called the best pop artist of the century then no, she absolutely doesn't deserve the title. Badgalbriel Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I'm so glad Taylor got the #2, tbh. People would hate on whoever ended up at #1 and Bey is being dragged on social media. Taylor deserves a break from the hate comments. 1 4
