LoveInStereo

10 - "I wrote in a past thread: It's wrongfully accused of being boring when it's really just tasteful. The production perfectly compliments the story. Her reality is grey & dull but she loses herself in passionate memories of the past. It builds in such a natural & beautiful way."

Nein

10 - "This is SUCH a good song yall just dont get it and it shows."

Ampersand13

10 - "I really wish people gave this song more of a chance because I genuinely think it's one of Taylor's finest singles. I sometimes think that because so much of Taylor's brand is synonymous with melodrama, that some may find it difficult to discern when she's using histrionics as a storytelling device that's not meant to be taken at face value. It's easy to hear a lyric like "I love you, it's ruining my life" and assume the author is either exaggerating or obscenely theatrical. However, I don't think either is the case in Fortnight. From the moment I heard this song it was clear to me that these overzealous turns of phrases were designed to articulate a delusional state of mind that tricks you into thinking the world is ending when it isn't. It's less about the dramatics of heartbreak and more about defining the line between what happened and what felt like it happened. I think this is such a brilliantly written piece of pop music that audiences were so quick to dismiss. There are times in which I worry that my deep love for Taylor's music makes me, in turn, somewhat rose colored and out of touch, but then I read through some of the takes regarding this song find comfort in the resolution that sometimes people are just wrong. Fortnight is, to me, the best example of precedence impacting the present. Had she not released Fortnight during this specific moment in her career, I think it would have been received differently. I'm not saying inherently better, but definitely differently."

9.1 - "I'd love for Lord and Post to release an "Edit" version like Billie did of HTE that's just the last 40 seconds, because that's all I want to listen to here like 90% of the time."

wehavetostan

9 - "The last 45 seconds are the best part of the album."

Forever Winter

9 - "EXCELLENT song. Incredibly catchy and love the buildup in the production. I'm glad she tried a different approach to her melodies with this song and you can hear Posty's influence. :jonny:"

1989

8.1 - "This song has grown on me so much, and it's actually a great song to open the era with."

SLUTTVFTV

8 - "Not her best lead, but I've learned to like it."

Where are you now?

7.9 - "Still don't see what is so great about Post Malone? He didn't add much here imo. Song is still decent to me but disappointing for a lead single and track one."

Edge of Glory

6.5 - "Really good vibe music, but not sensational...aside from that outro, phew!!"

Achilles.

5 - "Decent song but it's the weirdest and perhaps worst single choice of her career."

blown away

4.9 - "Boring song. I can see why US radio couldn't wait to drop it like a rock."

Fortnight is a great song, idk why many of you actively hate it. The synths in the 2 part of the chorus ALWAYS get me.

Fortnight is good, not nearly as bad as y'all make it out to be, but I wouldn't have it make the top 100

Fortnight is in my personal top 75. :clap3:

The chilling, hypnotic, repetitive, insistent beat... Jack cooked. Whole sing feels like being slowly devoured by dread. Perfection
