Archetype Posted July 13 Posted July 13 (edited) Gaga hasn't released a pop album in 4 years and got two top ten hits, a #1 hit single, and a sold out stadium tour from it. She's also out-streaming Beyoncé with significantly less music despite her last major release being 4 years ago and Bey releasing heavily within the past 1.5 years. So yes she is 100% up there with them. Also no female artist is up there with Taylor, she's in her own category. Beyoncé and Gaga are not even on the same planet as Taylor when it comes to sales, streams, and even touring now. It's more like this: Taylor >>>>>>>Adele>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Beyoncé & Gaga >>>>>> Ariana & Billie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everyone else Edited July 13 by Archetype 10 1

M!X Posted July 13 Posted July 13 isn't Rihanna, right now in this very moment, one of the most streamed female artists? 2

Gaga is very much still here and just yesterday she oustreamed Beyoncé on spotify who has released more music this year than Gaga the entire decade. It's pretty ironic to talk about "cheapening brands" when Taylor just released her worst most bland album and is out there selling it bundled with her pubes. 2

She's leagues above them. We are in a music forum, stay on topic. and now Rihanna is among the top 5 in streaming despite her last release being in 2016 while gaga is in the same boat with Katy. Taylor outgrossed gaga's entire career with Eras. She is below them like katy 1 4
Into The Void Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) Isn't Midnights and TTPD recession pop? Many would say so 4 and Speak Now are not less accessible albums. Lol OP spewing a while shitload of BS but I'm used to that from this user Edited July 14 by Into The Void 1

Taylor outgrossed most careers with Eras - does that mean Beyonce is "below them with Katy" too by your measure? superben Posted July 14 Posted July 14 11 hours ago, Kingdom said: does the stat include touring and album sales? Cause if that's the case...Bey sold more albums than her (compare their first 8 album sales and bey outsells her, touring..well, you already know). OP discusses "outlasting", and recurrent stats speak more about that anything.
Soda Pop Queen Posted July 14 Posted July 14 OP, I really wish you didn't rope Bey into this discussion with these younger women like they are her peers when they're not because all these dunces are doing is dragging streams of Cowboy Carter Correction: Bey outlasted all the women in HER age group. Also, Rihanna don't even keep up with her career to be included in this but it's not like she needs to. Basically, leave the black women out of this lol. Their legacies are intact and wholly independent of their respective peer groups IMO. 4 1
MatiRod Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Taylor's Max Martin bangers on Red certainly felt like they fit within that maximalist pop sound at the time. They may have not been dance-pop in the way Gaga and Katy's songs were but they fit. 2
skeeyee Posted July 14 Posted July 14 You could've just kept it to your fav and left bey out of this foolishness💀 1
Taylor fanboy Posted July 14 Posted July 14 @PoisonedIvy coming for @nostalgia with creating pop subgenres. "Recession pop". 1

Her overall sales as a solo artist are on par with people like Gaga and behind the likes of Adele and Taylor. It's her PR-crafted image that gives her the illusion of being bigger than she is. :toofunny: 3 1
xxxlamb Posted July 14 Posted July 14 You lost me at Rihanna...lol she has more listeners than everyone except Billie amd Taylor and hasnt released in 8.5 years 1 1
OrgVisual Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Taylor and Bey outlasted because they didn't rely on gay fans tbh.

This thread is so dumb. Wait a ******* minute. She really hasn't has she. When you say it like that it seems like 20 years. The world has changed alot since Anti.
stevyy Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Katy outlasted them all... (with great music). I'm walking on air.

LegaMyth Posted July 16 Posted July 16 ??????? Almost every popular female artist outside of Adele has released Pop-Tart music at some point in their career.
leonbotstein Posted July 16 Posted July 16 On 7/13/2024 at 7:45 AM, PoisonedIvy said: As we have seen in the cultural lexicon recently, the years 2008 through circa 2013 were filled to the brim with "recession pop" — maximalist pop bangers about how we never need to stop dancing, partying, and finding love until the sun comes up or the world ends, whichever came first. Bey and Tay chose to use those years to instead explore the less commercially accessible offerings of 4 and Speak Now. At the time, those 2 albums paled in comparison to Teenage Dream, The Fame Monster, Loud, and in terms of singles, even Ke$ha, P!nk, and at times, Britney Spears, were doing better. Fast forward to the present and it's clear that Bey and Taylor have a commercial pull the other girls can't draw anymore, evidenced by their album openings and their blockbuster tour grosses. My theory is that, because they never cheapened their brands with recession pop (mindless club bangers), they reaped the longterm benefits and their discographies aged better in the long run. A double win. Thoughts? (& prayers?) This is smart.
