base talk Better Vocalist: Billie or Taylor Swift

This discussion came up in Billie's isolated vocals thread, where certain people where claiming that Billie isn't a singer because she utilizes "whisper" vocals. What are your thoughts on this?

not to say that Taylor is bad, in fact she's quite good! she's made the most of her talents in terms of vocals and has given some great vocal performances in her time. she sounded great last year when I saw her too. her tone has been very nice post-Fearless, and when Reputation came around I think she had excelled to good vocalist territory! Don't Blame Me showed that off well 

 

but yeah Billie's timbre, dynamism, charisma, passion, and technique vocally makes her better than Taylor in that department tbh

Billie is the perfect example for although you may not have the voice for crazy power ballads and doing extremely high notes, you can still emote and utilize your instrument to where doing less is doing more. 
 

She has an incredible ear for runs and riffs, she can emote incredibly well. And she just naturally has a better ear. Taylor can belt and does try her best to emote. But truthfully she doesn't utilize her voice the way she could, when Billie does.

 

So I genuinely think Billie is the better vocalist, but Taylor could be too if she just tried harder

OT: I don't think Taylor can't sing, she is decent and I'll say she has improved. However, Billie sings circles around her.

Most of pop artists are not vocalists, they're just okay to good singers, but Selena and Taylor are miles apart vocally, despite Taylor being a C-List.
