SylMacPer Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Olivia Rodrigo - Apart from 2-3 songs on SOUR everything else sounds as the same boring song. GUTS is even worse to me. Charli XCX - I rarely like a song of hers. Gaga's Chromatica - This album is atrocious. I don't get why people like it. RAYE - Never got the hype for this girl. Sam Smith - Whatever they do, I find them super boring and try hard. (Unholy's a bop tho) Lil Nas X - His music is noise to my ears. Camila Cabello - Her voice is annoying. BTS - ... Elton John - I just can't stand him. Idk why.

KBax Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Katy Perry Olivia Rodrigo Dua Lipa Taylor Swift I honestly only really liked the Teenage Dream album from Katy. I loved 1989 from Taylor and a couple other random songs, but other than that I don't get the hype... Dua I maybe like 2 songs, and as for Olivia I can't stand her.
Thor Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Lana Del Rey. Her popularity just seems like white gay propaganda to me. 1
Comedor Posted May 9 Posted May 9 SZA and Doja Cat. I do enjoy a couple songs from them but that's about it.

Bjork is such an epitome of acquired taste, but when you get it, there's such a huge pay off because of her ground breaking discography. Your comment made me force myself to give her another try, and i guess the space and settle i was yesterday in were perfect for my brain to make sense and consume the novelty of her wierdness LOL. therefore, THANK YOU GIRLLLLL very MUCH! I tried so many times to get into her but failed all the time I even bought CDs by her so I could feel the need to really get into it.

fromily Posted May 10 Posted May 10 beyonce It's annoying because she's obviously super talented and has such a large and varied discography. But I just don't like her vocal tone. Like just the way she sounds. It's a super specific thing that I get w some singers. I have the same thing w Katy Perry (not comparing the two on any other metric tho lol). Oh and carly rae jepsen! same thing! I want to listen to her stuff and appreciate it as much as everyone says they do but her voice just scratches me the wrong way
Alex Posted May 10 Posted May 10 (edited) Olivia rodrigo, taylor swift, caroline polachek, camila cabello, harry styles, lil nas x, anne-marie just to name a few. Edited May 10 by Alex
TaggedGalaxy Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Billie mostly. On paper she should be right up my alley considering I'm a Taylor and Lana stan, but I just can't get into her whisper style singing, I actually hate it and find it unlistenable, which is a shame because she has a great voice and I love Ocean Eyes and I love her songs when they are covered by other people (ie Kelly Clarkson) but not when she sings them. Her new album intrigues me though and if she drops the whisper singing I may give it a try
MAGIA Posted May 11 Posted May 11 (edited) Billie's debut music definitely hits the mark, but it's hard to ignore the heavy influence from the wave XXXTentacion created. Personally, I've struggled to connect with her music or relate to her lyrics. Dua Lipa seems tailor-made for radio success, but there's something lacking in her performances and style that fails to captivate me. Rosalia has a distinct image, yet there's an aspect of her artistry that doesn't quite resonate with me. It could be the production, her vocal tone, or the sometimes overt use of Latina culture. Charli XCX undeniably crafts fantastic electro-pop tunes, and some of her beats are downright infectious. However, her sound falls into a niche that doesn't align with my personal taste. Now, this might sound controversial, but many of the new Black "pop" artists don't strike a chord with me, from Tinashe to Normani to Chloe to Tyle. Similarly, the latest crop of white pop singers, like Ava Max, Kim Petras, and Sabrina Carpenter, often come across as forgettable to me. To truly catch my attention, an artist needs a solid image and a personality that shines through, sometimes even more than their music itself. Edited May 11 by MAGIA
MAGIA Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Ah, and I can't overlook the two big names: Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga. Ariana's style just doesn't resonate with me; none of her songs have ever managed to grab me beyond a couple of listens. As for Lady Gaga, she's undeniably a pop icon, from her groundbreaking debut onward, but for some reason, her music is a tough sell for me. That said, do I recognize their immense popularity? Absolutely. Ariana possesses a stunning, high-pitched voice paired with infectious melodies, and Lady Gaga is a true polymath in the realm of music. So, while they might not be my cup of tea, I acknowledge that their appeal is more about personal taste than a lack of understanding of their widespread acclaim.

Okay girl, I went from hating and couldn't stay this *******' voice to straight up forgetting to listen to Beyoncé for a whole week; no wonder CC's streaming number is dipping in hell sauce. I think you have to be in the right mind set. You have to let go of all expectations you have of her and just be very open minded to whatever she will serve. Don't expect anything conventional as an indication of quantity, just be open minded; which bring us to madam Marjuana. It just helps make music sounds better and therefore make you more receptive to new, novel sonic experiences. Focus on the productions as she is the master of mixing dance/EDM with classical string instruments - you don't have to like her voice to appreciate those incredible arrangements. Also, start with POST, it's more accessible to most people but I think HOMOGENIC might be easier to get into!

I always appreciate her production and instrumentals I think it's out of this world. But everytime she moans I just can't stand it. It gets a bit irritating. I mean my music teacher, who is also a producer, STANS her so of course there must be sth genius about her.
