It's not as "high-brow" as her future work, but it is filled with alt-pop and house gems. A perfect urbanite record. She recorded it while experiencing London's nightlife, and it sounds like it. Overall, I feel like her records take a while to truly "get it". All the little details deserve to be experienced to the fullest, so don't feel like you have to consume it all in one go. It's why I take months between checking out each record. (I started early last year and I'm still only on Vespertine. ) Thank you for the contribution, I really do wanna get into her because as I grow older I want to experience new worlds of music I never have before. And she seems like the perfect vessel for that. Also I really loved "Arisen My Senses," like it actually altered my brain's chemistry. So I know I have the capacity to fall for her. I'll give it time like you guys say. The background of when, why, how, and where she made these albums is also helpful! 2

This video is a great intro into her discography if you have the time: And this is the one that actually got me to check out her music: 1

I'll check out the second one later this weekend when I'm less busy with work. Thank u

GrandeVersace Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Olivia Rodrigo Not a single track by her that I can tolerate. Bjork is too weird for me. Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez I use like 2 or 3 tracks by each one. Not a fan either.
PoisonedIvy Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) I had to come back and also suggest "Shiny Collarbone," @Virgos Groove You said you don't get why the critics laud them like Frank and I think this is a good example of why. It's something so left field. It's a short instrumental but I bet you'd bop to it It sounds like an instrumental that could slide right into Bey's self titled album ngl Edited May 3 by PoisonedIvy 1
KatyPrismSpirit Posted May 3 Posted May 3 the weeknd. i just don't like his singing voice. but he is a good person. 1

It sounds like something Jamie xx (who I also mentioned) would release. 1

Album Leak Posted May 3 Posted May 3 (edited) Caroline Polachek, Allie X, Grimes and Eartheater. Actually most of the '' alternative electronic indie girls '' are just a complete miss for me. It has to be some homosexual conspiracy/psy-op because most of their songs are really unpleasant to me. Edited May 3 by Album Leak 1

Some of my favs: You're in for a treat, trust me Wait, this is literally the next throwback album I was thinking of diving into. I texted my friend about it a few days ago! It was spoken so highly of in music circles in the mid to late 2010s, and of course I saw the praises but I just never got around to it. This just validates my desire to listen. Thank you friend 1

JackOfHearts Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Taylor. Olivia. Sabrina. Normani. Camila. And also, Lana, since… I don't know, probably her last 4-5 albums.
EdgeofTeeth Posted May 3 Posted May 3 The bland, faceless pop girls with no artistic identity like Sabrina, Camila, Addison, etc. Also (I know I'm going to be crucified for this ) Carly Rae Jepsen. I really do understand the appeal because that girl knows how to make a candy-sweet pop song, but her nasally voice is so grating on my ears.

John Slayne Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Boygenius and Phoebe Bridgers. i usually love that type of music but they are just not clicking for some reason. Justin Biebers music was everywhere in 2015-2017 so I was exposed to it a lot, but never got the hype either. Same with Chainsmokers and Avicii, everyone was obsessed with them back then but I just found them to be tired. 2

Julia Fox Posted May 3 Posted May 3 The powerhouse vocalists like Celine and Whitney. I don't get their impact more than they can sing but I fear they didn't bring anything new to the table, nothing particular on their lyricism, style, just good vocals. On the other hand Mariah was way more eclectic and also has a very diva-ish delivery on their lyrics and aesthetic so I can get into her but she's just the exception. 1
